Boehner - Filibuster rule change bills 'dead on arrival'
Washington Times ^ | 11-29

Posted on 11/29/2012 9:03:06 PM PST by Arthurio

House Speaker John Boehner, Ohio Republican, made it clear that any bill that came to the House from the upper chamber as a result of Senate Democrats changing the rules on the filibuster would be "dead on arrival." In a statement released from Speaker Boehner's office, the Ohio GOP'er remarked:

“Senate Democrats’ attempt to break Senate rules in order to change Senate rules is clearly designed to marginalize Senate Republicans and their constituents while greasing the skids for controversial partisan measures. I question the wisdom of this maneuver, especially at a time when cooperation on Capitol Hill is critical, and fully support Leader McConnell’s efforts to protect minority rights, which are an essential part of our constitutional tradition. Any bill that reaches a Republican-led House based on Senate Democrats’ heavy-handed power play would be dead on arrival.”

Could there possibly be a worse time in history to have an alcoholic spineless crybaby idiot as our spokesperson?

He is saying any bill passed because of a change in the filibuster rules would be DOA.

Do you have any other alternatives to offer or just bitching?

Hey, if you guys want to wave your pom poms and cheer on the fools on the Hill, be my guest. Most of us in Realville know it's a waste of time. When push comes to shove, they'll cave like a cheap stack of cards.

Do you have someone else standing between us and Obama/Reid?

Yeah, but they crucified him about 2,000 years ago.

"perhaps the time has finally come for the house to do it’s job... "

I have already written my congresscritter, Michael McCaul, that they need to depose Boehner. I have come to the conclusion that congressional Republicans need to elect New Gingrich as Speaker of the house.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives (or Speaker of the House) is the presiding officer of the chamber. The office was established in 1789 by Article I, Section 2 of the United States Constitution, which states in part, "The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker..." The current speaker is John Boehner, a Republican who represents Ohio's 8th congressional district. The Constitution does not require that the Speaker be an elected Member of Congress, but no non-member has ever been elected to the office.

In cases of rape or incest, abortion should be an option. In the case of abortion as a form of contraception, as a FREQUENT route to prevent pregnancy, instead of using available contraception, because they feel they can “always get an abortion”, some guidelines and limitations must be applied. When men and women fail to take responsibility for their sexual activity and its consequences, society suffers, and the slippery slope of abortion without responsibility makes it so much easier for people in positions of power, like dictator oboma, for instance, to just “kill the fetus”, “kill the old people and disabled children” (obomacare death panels)...it becomes too easy and matter of fact, and evil.

It is not a case of all or nothing at all....the Republicans/Conservatives have work to do on presenting this issue and its various options.

“Until the Republicans drop their obsession with abortion, they will lose the vote among women.”

I don’t care, I’ll stay pro-life anyway, but FYI:

http://www.gallup.com/poll/118399/More-Americans-Pro-Life-Than-Pro-Choice-First-Time.aspx

“A year ago, Gallup found more women calling themselves pro-choice than pro-life, by 50% to 43%, while men were more closely divided: 49% pro-choice, 46% pro-life. Now, because of heightened pro-life sentiment among both groups, women as well as men are more likely to be pro-life.”

“Kinda like Lincoln and Slavery, eh?”

Yes, or Bonhoeffer and the Jews. If only he could have been less obsessed, less absolutist, maybe he could have won more public support.

“Because women are emotional not logical.. .”

Generally true, but the fact and image of a dead aborted child is definitely emotionally chilling. It’s not like a mild thing.

“Until the Republican party accepts the issue as settled and moves on”

Some issues are simply unacceptable.

The economy is more important? How many Germans said that in the 1940s?

How many southerners said that in the 1860s?

If accepting thousands of murders per day is good for the economy, you are willing to accept that?

I don’t see how the Pubbies can possibly win on the fiscal cliff. The choice seems to be, raise taxes on the rich and perhaps get some cuts in federal spending or raise taxes on everyone and get mandatory cuts that probably aren’t substantial enough. It looks like the Pubbies have screwed themselves and us again.

Stay tuned for the following:

But...but...the Compassion For The Children And Their Cute Widuw Bunny Wabbits And Puppy Dogs (CFTATCWBWAPD) bill simply must pass, or there will be mass starvation and an end to Ladies’ Nights at Mulligans. How could you oppose it just because it passed Senate due to the closure vote change, and the fact that it will incur a bazillion dollars in debt and won’t do a damned thing? How COULD you be so narrowly partisan?
