Time for Congressional Republicans To Expose Obama's Agenda
Townhall.com ^ | November 30, 2012 | David Limbaugh

We can get back to discussing GOP minority constituent recruitment soon, but in the meantime, we have a fiscal cliff issue that beckons -- the real fiscal cliff (America's imminent financial collapse), not the government shutdown molehill everyone is agonizing over.

Congressional Republicans should look at their party's loss in the presidential election as liberating. They surely now understand that the strategy of soft-pedaling Obama's record and agenda doesn't work. They surely grasp that its fear of calling President Obama out on his real intentions and the disastrous consequences of his destructive policies just plays into his hands and enables the advancement of his agenda.

So, how about some bold, straight language from our side? How about telling the American people exactly what Obama is up to? How about drawing a line in the sand right now -- before the pseudo "fiscal cliff" negotiations even begin -- and announcing there is no point to entering these farcical talks because they don't share the same goals? Republicans want to prevent a national financial collapse, and Obama wants to keep spending and prevent entitlement reform so that he can complete his task of fundamentally transforming America.

Obama is already engaging in doublespeak and deception about his goals in these negotiations, and Republicans, instead of permitting him to control the language and the narrative, should flush his true intentions into the open at the very outset.

Let's start with this fact: Obama doesn't want to raise "revenues." He wants to raise tax rates on the "wealthy," a group that includes tons of people who are not wealthy, and a policy that may well not raise significant revenues anyway. Even if you assume tax hikes on those who provide the lion's share of American jobs won't further suppress economic growth and thus revenues, the amount of money they would generate won't make a dent in our annual deficits, much less our crushing national debt.

So Republicans must assert that Obama's uncompromising demand that we raise taxes on the "wealthy" is not about raising revenue, but redistributing wealth and punishing the rich.

Every honest, informed person knows we cannot bring our budget and debt into balance without major structural entitlement reform and real reductions in discretionary spending.

Here again, Obama has made it very clear he doesn't share the goals of reducing spending and reforming entitlements. He not only refuses to restructure entitlements and seriously reduce discretionary spending (except military), but he's salivating over the prospect of spending (he calls it "investing") any "revenues" the tax hikes generate.

The naked reality is that Obama and his Democratic Party are entering these budget negotiations in bad faith. Republicans must confront Obama, using plainspoken English words as defined in the dictionary. Either he doesn't believe spending and entitlement reforms are essential to balancing the budget and averting a financial collapse, which would make him more obtuse than any president in history, or he doesn't have any intention of addressing our deficit and debt problems. Either way, he has obstructed any serious spending and entitlement reform initiatives for four years and still hasn't put a plan on the table. It's imperative that we conclude he is going to use all his power to prevent such actions going forward.

On those rare occasions when Obama is forced to discuss entitlement reform, he demagogues and lies about alleged reductions in entitlement benefits to the middle class and seniors that would occur under Republican plans. But we have no choice but to institute and manage a reform plan on our own terms, such as Paul Ryan's Path to Prosperity, which does in fact preserve benefits for the most vulnerable groups and causes as little pain to others as possible. Otherwise, our exploding expenditures are going to force reform upon us the hard way, with an ugly Grecian-style financial collapse that will make 2008 look like child's play and show us what real pain is.

If the GOP acts forcefully and boldly, it may still prevent this collapse. But if not, when we are hurtling toward the Earth together, we can do so knowing we did all we could to save this great nation for our children. Or we can reminisce about how the GOP again pulled its punches for fear of looking mean-spirited or because they, too, didn't believe their own rhetoric or possess the courage of their convictions.

Before Republicans reenter this process of what are sure to be futile negotiations, please let them put their case before the American people and force Obama to explain his actual intentions. It's time to have this out and to force a sober national assessment of where we are and where we're going.

Out in the open, perhaps we can discover whether a majority of Americans truly share Obama's goal of obstructing spending and entitlement reform and thus destroying America's future. The rest of us have a right to know.

Thanks I will check out what he said. I have been wondering if anyone anywhere had any realistic ideas on how to proceed.

what follows is very devastating
thanks for highlighting it's existence, arrowhead1952

You will find the Ten Planks of the Communist Manifesto interesting at this point.

1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rent to public purpose.
The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the Bureau of Land Management.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
Misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State "income" taxes. We call it "paying your fair share".

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
We call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
We call in government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570 (1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process.

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
We call it the Federal Reserve which is a credit/debt system nationally organized by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the State.
We call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver's licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
We call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture. As well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
We call it the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
We call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136.

10. Free education for all children in government schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.
People are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, which train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based "Education" .

Chapter 29
Progressive Era Amendments

Woodrow Wilson was a committed progressive and outspoken critic of the U.S. Constitution. He believed that the checks and balances of the Constitution were the cause of America’s problems in administering the government. “The ‘literary theory’ of checks and balances is simply a consistent account of what our Constitution makers tried to do;” he stated, “and those checks and balances have proved mischievous just to the extent which they have succeeded in establishing themselves.” Wilson was concerned with the implementation of government, criticizing those who focused on philosophical issues and the “proper role” of government.

With a majority Democratic Congress, Wilson was able to persuade it to pass the Federal Reserve Act, Federal Trade Commission Act, the Clayton Antitrust Act, the Federal Farm Loan Act and America's first-ever federal progressive income tax in the Revenue Act of 1913. All four of the Progressive Era Amendments were ratified during his term in office. (Amendments 16, 17, 18, 19)

The Sixteenth Amendment gave the federal government the power to lay and collect an income tax regardless of the source of that income. A graduated income tax has always been the number one goal of socialism. It is the means whereby government redistributes the produce of labor among the people. The practice is little different from the early socialist systems of the colonies of Jamestown and Plymouth. Back then, all of the products of the people’s labor were taken from them and placed in a common storehouse to be doled out by the colony’s leaders as they saw fit. We have become more sophisticated in the technique and less demanding in the portion, but the principle is still the same. The government decides the percentage of time each of us must expend laboring on behalf of others. Only when we have satisfied that demand are we then free to labor for our own benefit and the benefit of our families.

The Communist Manifesto of 1848 called for the establishment of a graduated income tax. The Socialist Labor Party began advocating for the tax in 1887, and the Populist Party included it in its party platform of 1892. An income tax law was also promoted by William Jennings Bryan and the Democratic Party. A bill was passed by Congress in 1894 calling for a tax on rents, dividends and interests. It was signed into law by President Cleveland, but declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in 1895. The sixteenth amendment was specifically to override the court’s decision, hence the reference to income source and apportionment in its text. The Democratic Party again called for an income tax in its 1908 platform. In 1911, the Sixteenth Amendment was passed by Congress and submitted to the states for ratification. It was ratified February 3, 1913.

The Seventeenth Amendment provided for the direct election of Senators by the people rather than by the state legislatures as the original Constitution called for. This amendment, more than any other act of Congress helped to bring about the consolidated government railed against by Patrick Henry in the Virginia Ratifying Convention of 1788. In the aftermath of the seventeenth amendment, the checks and balances derided by Woodrow Wilson would gradually diminish, if not disappear altogether.

I think the prevailing thinking on both sides of the aisle is “Eat, drink, and be merry” for tomorrow we die - while going through the rhetorical flourishes to claim they are trying to solve the problem.

You've nailed it. The depraved leeches who have been navigating our "ship of fools" in recent decades are only capable of sailing it one direction - straight into the fiscal hurricane.

We just did. Romney/ Ryan made the case. They had a very easy to understand 5 point plan that was spelled out at the RNC. They were focused on jobs and expanding the economy. The dims had theirs it was abortionpalooza starring Sandra Fluke, the head of NARAL and a commercial that sold young woman that voting for Obama was like losing your virginity. Romney mopped the floor with an entirely unserious Obama in the debates.

The American people have smoked the hopium and with a complaint media are high as a kite, there’s no reasoning with them. The only thing that will sober them up is the markets. Soon they will learn you can’t eat free condoms it gay marriage.

Read my previous post the GOP or GOPE ..whatever that is ...is unable to speak to the American people. They are giddy with free health care, taking money from the rich and free condoms. They are drunk as sailors on hopium and the Kardashions. It will take a severe economic crisis to sober them up.

Nice piece, David, and I don’t disagree with what you wrote, but didn’t the election we just had teach you ANYthing about what “a majority” of Americans actually want?

Even Rush’s brother doesn’t get it. Obama isn’t out to punish the rich. He wants to make it look like he’s punishing the rich. He’s just an actor....a grifter......a con man. He’s playing to his Democrat audience.

“To be, or not to be. See how I take from the rich to give to you? Aren’t us Democrats wonderful?”

What happens to the actor when the stage is gone? Or you put the scenery from CATS up when he’s trying to do a scene from MACBETH? Throw him some curves. He can’t hit anything but big old slow softballs.

Obama is going on a 20 day vacation to Hawaii. What kind of socialist does that? Obama has lived in other nations. He’s not afraid to leave the US and do that. We’re all sitting around thinking he doesn’t want to rip off the country because he wants to live here. Baloney! You think he wants to go back to Chicago? He’s just a con man....a grifter.....a pickpocket. He runs out his old socialist act and people wet their pants.

“Look over here, mark! I might put you in a collective! Bwahaha!”

He puts on this act all the time. Boehner should introduce legislation requiring the President, all nationally elected officials, and every government employee in D. C. to grow and eat their own food. All you’d see of Harry Reid is the smoke from the tires of his car as he ran back to Nevada. Let’s see what kind of socialists they are.

So Republicans must assert that Obama's uncompromising demand that we raise taxes on the "wealthy" is not about raising revenue, but redistributing wealth and punishing the rich.

It doesn't punish the truly rich, it punishes their competition: effectively the upper middle class. The truly rich have tax exempt "charities" with which to write off their expenses. They don't want small business to grow into big business.

The truly rich DO want to punish those uppity climbers and force those who aspire to anything back into a state of groveling. THAT is the essence of democratic socialism: indentured dependency upon a government the truly rich control for fun and profit.

This is class warfare all right, but the meme is all wrong.

Obama’s supporters KNOW what his agenda is. They don’t care. Most of them wouldn’t know socialism from social drinking - they just know he is the messiah who will save their souls and give them stuff, plus he ain’t white so he can be trusted. Good luck exposing anything - the media won’t report it anyway.
