Hungary far-right leader demands lists of Jews

A Hungarian far-right politician urged the government to draw up lists of Jews who pose a "national security risk", stirring outrage among Jewish leaders who saw echoes of fascist policies that led to the Holocaust. Marton Gyongyosi, a leader of Hungary's third-strongest political party Jobbik, said the list was necessary because of heightened tensions following the brief conflict in Gaza and should include members of parliament. Opponents have condemned frequent anti-Semitic slurs and tough rhetoric against the Roma minority by Gyongyosi's party as populist point scoring ahead of elections in 2014. Jobbik has never called publicly for lists of Jews. "I am a Holocaust survivor," said Gusztav Zoltai, executive director of the Hungarian Jewish Congregations' Association. "For people like me this generates raw fear, even though it is clear that this only serves political ends. This is the shame of Europe, the shame of the world." Between 500,000 and 600,000 Hungarian Jews died in the Holocaust, according to the Holocaust Memorial Centre in Budapest. According to some accounts, one in three Jews killed in Auschwitz were Hungarian nationals. Gyongyosi's call came after Foreign Ministry State Secretary Zsolt Nemeth said Budapest favored a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as benefiting both Israelis with Hungarian ancestry, Hungarian Jews and Palestinians in Hungary. Gyongyosi, who leads Jobbik's foreign policy cabinet, told Parliament: "I know how many people with Hungarian ancestry live in Israel, and how many Israeli Jews live in Hungary," according to a video posted on Jobbik's website late on Monday. "I think such a conflict makes it timely to tally up people of Jewish ancestry who live here, especially in the Hungarian Parliament and the Hungarian government, who, indeed, pose a national security risk to Hungary."

The left is attacking Jewish people everyplace but as soon as there looks like there is real trouble they become right-wing extremist.

Left = total government
Right = no government

The guy is a leftist by definition, how does a limited government or no government systematically round up people? They cannot, that is the big media Lie!

I am a constitutionalist moderate. We are all constitutional moderates here!

JBS was ahead of it’s time, why do we let the enemy media define us as”far extreme right”, we lose because we let them define us.

The title? Far left leader. that’s the position of someone on the left, not the right.

No. In America, the right is not anarchist, it believes in limited government. But then there is the nationalism/antinationalism scale. I don't consider Jobbik to be true nationalists, as they sell out to Muslims and are funded by Iran.

Maybe they will follow the example of another “far-right” leader and put them in internment camps?

10th graders made a movie? This is political science garbage. 2500 years of political thought is thrown out to create a right-left model with no thought behind. It is insulting to watch, failing to differentiate between a monarchy and dictatorship. Good grief. Pick up Plato and the Federalist and weep at the stupidity you marvel as knowledge.

Oh and the JBS only warned us of the current mess we are in over 50 years ago!

But 50 years ago the average 8th grader was just as competently skilled as a high school graduate is today thanks to the unionization and nationalization of education. So to say this view was brough forth by 10th graders 50 + years ago would be akin to it comming from a political science major today.

Thanks for the complement!

The John Birch Society thanks you.

JBS warned us of many things, some real, some false, some preposterous. I used to be a member. None of this means that their political man is simplified to the point of being useless.
JBS also think that Bill Buckley was a neoconservative. They have no understanding of political ideology.
