SOUTH LYONS, MI, November 30, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Michigan performing arts teacher is defending her decision to play a song promoting same-sex “marriage” to her eighth grade class.

Susan Johnson played the hip-hop song “Same Love” by Macklemore to students at Centennial Middle School in South Lyon, in the Detroit area.
“The right wing conservatives think it’s a decision, and you can be cured with some treatment and religion,” its lyrics state. “A certificate on paper ain’t gonna change everything, but it’s a damn good place to start.”
In a refrain, a female singer says: “I can’t change, even if I try, even if I wanted to. My love she keeps me warm.” She then quotes I Corinthians 13 that “Love is patient, love is kind.”
Johnson said a student asked her to play the song for her class. “This is one of the things in my school that we’re trying to practice and we’re trying to instill in our students is tolerance to diversity,” Johnson said.
“By using her classroom to experiment on the consciences of her students, she demonstrates her imprudence, ignorance of the court’s rulings protecting children from indoctrination, and her own selfishness for placing her values and interests above that of the parents, students, and her colleagues,” Al Kresta, host of the nationally-syndicated Catholic talk show “Kresta in the Afternoon,” told LifeSiteNews.com. “True diversity means respecting the ethical boundaries of those one serves.”
After hearing of the incident the school suspended Johnson for three days, two without pay, for not following proper protocol. Teachers are supposed to preview the clips and get permission before displaying them for students.
“[T]he instructor is to identify the curriculum benchmarks that students will complete as a result of watching the clip,” the district added. “The clip had no relationship whatsoever to the instructional class content planned for that day.”
Jay Kaplan, staff attorney for the ACLU’s LGBT project, said the organization has launched an investigation of the school district. The far-left lawyers group has issued a Freedom of Information Act request about other past incidents like Johnson’s.
A local homosexual activist group also established a Susan Johnson fund.
The district announced Friday it would reinstate Johnson’s pay but her actions “will remain in writing” in her file.
Johnson said she acted in everyone’s best interests, because “there’s a lot of bullying and there’s a lot of gay bashing and racial issues going on in our country.”
“She hides behind exaggerated claims of bullying and bigotry which are not in evidence,” Kresta said. “If in fact she is dealing with bullies, let heR deal with bullies and leave the other children to continue their good behavior.
Why isn't this idiot teaching her young charges the true evils of homosexual practice? Disease, suicide, a life where the homosexual ends up hating themselves and the person they've exchanged slobbers with, let alone bodily fluids and the ingestation of fecal matter. This is a life style that leads directly to hell and this sycophantic, so-called teacher gets to go on that field trip with them.
America, are you really this blind? Once again, school is supposed to be a trusted, safe and moral environment of learning, not a one-sided indoctrination camp for the radical homosexual political agenda. This teacher should have been fired, not merely suspended! this is yet another sickening and blatant display of the hypocrisy that is always behind the homosexual agenda's idea of "tolerance."

If South Lyons, MI, voters fill their school district board and classrooms with this kind of human refuse, what moral dregs of humanity make up the South Lyons electorate?
We are in a war, the gays are merely a front, they are helping to destroy the institution of marriage. It has nothing to do with gays marring, it is all about dividing families and destroying them so the government can easier control the populace.
The government loves single parent homes, they struggle both financially and personally, thus, they place all morality and dependence on the state and not with themselves, we are at war, it is a war we must win, the Democrats have declared war on God, morality, and marriage, for they are the foundations of our nation. The Democrats are drunk with immorality and power, they believe they sit a Queen, unable to be dethroned by the moralists beneath them, they denied God three times at their convention, God is not pleased, and they will be punished for their hubris.

That, in a nutshell, is what the communist goals have been. And The New Party - of which Obama was a signed member - sought to swing either party (or both) to the left so the country would basically elect communists under the fake name of “democrat” or “republican”.
They’ve been VERY successful. Stupidity will kill this nation, and people are too stupid to see that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Just like with so many majority-Muslim nations, whose citizens have to be controlled by dictators because of their own hell-raising attitude/morality, if Americans become animals in their hearts they will have to be controlled by bit and bridle just like the animals they seek to emulate. Freedom only works for good people. If lawless people are free to do as they wish it will be anarchy, and ultimately it will create a crisis that leads to tyranny.
If Republicans want to ever have a shot at the youth vote, they need to start cracking down on teachers and college professors who spew liberal indoctrination ‘tolerance’ garbage. It’s commies like this that cause kids to believe gay marriage is the ‘leading civil rights issue of our time’. It’s time for state legislatures (which we’re doing well in) to pass tougher regulations for educational institutions that receive state funding, and strict screening for teachers who might be radical Marxists. Put these people out of work for good, starting with this b&tch.
If anyone wonders what happen to the conviction, critical thinking, and moral fortitude among our people. The Public education systems both primary and secondarily is where the left have taken over and turned OUR kids into their ideological puppets.
The left always go after the weakest and most intellectually vulnerable of our people. The ends always justify the means in their sad twisted little heads. I have no words for the indication i feel against them for theses underhanded acts on the public dollar.
All I can say is homosexuality is a decease. if it is genetic as they are claiming then it is one that will eventually burn itself out after folks cease trying to overcome it.
If Homosexuality is a cultural/learned decease with or without genetic predispositions then I’m afraid the number of victims will only grow, becoming an even larger drain on our already dying civilization(sub replacement levels already).
Either way nobody should ever allow anyone to claim that this condition is not self-destructive, and that it can have no legitimate interest in marriage.
The institution of marriage is under assault by those who wish to redefine it into something that is undeniably worthless as it is meaningless.
Simply put anyone that accept the potability of “Gay marriage” hold no understanding of marriage and are therefore incapable of the union. TELL THAT TO YOUR KIDS, especially your girls for any-man not committed to a true marriage is only lying to them under false pretense. In effect robing them of the union they deserve.

I see this is an old thread.
I hadn't heard of "Macklemore" until a couple of months ago when I started hearing his "Thrift Shop" song everywhere. I actually found it amusing and fun to listen to.
Then, recently, I started to hear his "Same Love" song. I wrongly thought it was a recent song. It is apparently being trotted out again now because his Thrift Shop song is so popular.
I don't know that many people care to listen to him for his social commentary. I think people like his music because he's an only slightly less talented novelty rapper than Vanilla Ice.
