Knoxville police searched Friday night for two men involved in a break-in attempt that left a would-be robber shot by a West Knoxville resident, authorities said.
Knoxville Police Department officers were alerted at 9:56 a.m. of the shooting at 5455 Lance Drive, in the Timbercrest subdivision.
The resident was identified as 59-year-old Gary Berthiaume, and the gunshot victim was identified as 19-year-old Joshua Williams, no address available, according to a news release from KPD spokesman Darrell DeBusk.
Both were treated at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, DeBusk said. Their conditions weren't available Friday night.
Berthiaume was sitting on his back porch when he noticed a man peering through his front-door window, DeBusk said. Berthiaume went inside to retrieve his handgun.

We need to see more of this. And local governments need to give out $500 checks for homeowners who shoot people with justification. Let the criminals see that the government supports We The People in our right of self-defense.
I like it! Bounties for bagging burglars!
That is a good idea.
Each time one of these guys are shot it saves us a lot more money than $500.
Make it $20,000 for a kill.
Do you know how much money it saves the taxpayers when they don't have to prosecute, jail, house, and feed the criminal scum?
bttt - i like the tone and direction of this thread.
$20,000? Geez...that’s the taxpayer’s money you’re talking about spending. Exercise some fiscal conservatism- $2500/head should be sufficient.....
I like this. Pays for a modest new pistol and some ammo
