The football world was rocked Saturday morning when Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher murdered his girlfriend then turned the gun on himself.
This tragedy was bad enough but then the left decided to use another tragedy for political again. What did the left do in light of this tragedy?
Last night, in the weekly edition of Sunday night football, the Cowboys hosted the Eagles in a game with playoff implications.
At halftime, NBC sportscaster and liberal nut job Bob Costas decided to launch into a tirade about the Belcher murder/suicide and gun control.
Costas quoted a Kansas City Sports writer, Jason Whitlock and said:
“‘Our current gun culture,’ Whitlock wrote, ‘ensures that more and more domestic disputes will end in the ultimate tragedy. And more convenience store confrontations over loud music coming from a car will leave more teenage boys bloodied and dead. Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it. In the coming days, Jovan Belcher’s actions and their possible connection to football will be analyzed. Who knows? But here,’ wrote Jason Whitlock, ‘is what I believe — if Jovan Belcher didn’t possess a gun, he and Cassandra Perkins would both be alive today.’”
Is being an idiot a prerequisite for getting a job at NBC?

Heard on TV this morning that a guy in NY caught his wife cheating by texting love messages to her boyfriend. He proceeded to beat her to death with a baseball bat. So, I guess we should ban baseball bats.

and the pro wrestler a few years ago who strangled his young son, wife and then proceeded to hang himself..lots of guns were used there..

What would have prevented Belcher from posessing a gun, either legally or illegally?
Do you want to argue that all guns should be confiscated from the posession of civilians?

I know, I know, in a liberal’s mind, the discussion and examination stops at the point where “I feel good about myself for advocating this position”, and you haven’t bothered to and don’t want to examine it further.

You want to fix the concussion issue. Go back to lighter helmets and make personal fouls with helmet leads a 25 yard penalty and automatic ejection from game and review for possible extra suspensions. Second offense lifetime ban. The game went from being a man’s game to a thugs game over the last 20 years or so.
The NFL is duplicitous, I watched several plays this weekend of offensive players overtly leading with their heads into defenders who were not leading with theirs and no penalty was called, reverse that and it is called almost every time (on the right team). Just like the pass interference, they call it on defense to help offenses move the ball to raise scores and drive “more excitement” for the marketing. Only called on offense when it is one of the teams everyone wants to lose, like Patriots, Steelers, Broncos etc...
I have little sympathy for the millionaires that keep playing, but I feel for their families, but they too sometimes stay quiet for the money. Players can moan and blame the “evil rich owners” (ring a bell on a class warfare note) but in the end they choose to play. I equate football to gladiator games and also a vehicle to promote “heroes” to the minority community. Where else does a demographic that represents 11-14% of population make up 90% of participants?
If I am in the middle of a multi-million dollar contract that had guarantee money and I got hurt and to continue would jeopardize my health, I work quit or at least be injured for a while until I could. Plus, I would have had most of my money and no a garage of fancy cars and such.
Being anti-American is a prerequisite for holding a job at NBC.
If Nicole Simpson or Ron Goldman had had a gun, they might be alive today.

Why isn’t Jason Whitlock calling for a law to make it illegal to sell guns to Black Men?
