Romney was right

It’s hard to be honest in politics. Perhaps that has been Gov. Mitt Romney’s real problem all along. Romney’s candor came out in a recent conference call that was reported by the New York Times in which he said that President Obama offered free “gifts” to both illegal aliens and American citizens. Romney’s observation about rewarding illegal aliens with citizenship and giving free benefits to people exploiting the system is not the same as criticizing minorities—but for decades the Left has manipulatively used racism, sexism and discrimination to intimidate the Republican Party into cowering into the aimless, weak institution that it has become today. When Romney made the highly publicized ‘47 percent’ comment during a Boca Raton fundraiser in September, he was obviously making reference to the fact that it was not a campaign priority to reach out to that sect of the population for votes. He was right because most of those people were not going to vote for him anyway.

I agree. Why do so many conservatives give in to media and public liberal pressure? They should not be allowed to spin words without a fight on our part. We let them do it. Enough already.

Romney had no problem being a lying, mean bastard when he was attacking conservatives like Newt and Santorum. His kid gloves treatment of Obama betrays that he is more on the side of the liberals than the conservatives. He hates conservatives; he only disagrees with socialists, and only in degree. That is why he lost. He needed to take out Obama, but the case against Obama requires that you describe what he really is. Liberals don’t like to describe soclialism as evil, because they buy into most of it. And so, Romney lost.

How many here stated there was little difference in core political beliefs between MR and BO, only to be shouted down by the mittbots.

Mitt was able to convincingly wage war with the true conservatives because he shared none of their beliefs.

It doesn't matter if he was right. He lost. He lost to an avowed redistributing collectivist who's bent on bankrupting this nation, and every citizen in it. So whatever Romney says is moot now. And here's one question I have:

Does anyone actually KNOW a committed, passionate Romney voter - you know, the kind of voter who truly believed he was going to turn this nation around? It stuck me that this was a guy that inspired no one in his own party - except the GOP Elite types who weren't so much enamored with him, but they thought we needed Romney to “win the Senate” - which is also an epic FAIL of the GOP Elites. There was absolutely no passion for Mitt Romney - from anywhere. And it showed in the lack of votes he got vis-a-vis Obama.

Crap.

Romney lost because he ran a poor campaign and was a poor candidate.

His comments about the 47% were simply stupid and inaccruate. CONSERVATIVES admit the economy is in the tank, job opportunities are compromised, businesses are not hiring and this jerk comes out and actually states he doesn’t want the votes of people who are forced into unemployment, food stamps and even welfare as result of the Obama generated recession? STUPID. INACCURATE.

At a time Americans who ARE working are concerned about KEEPING their jobs he says “I like to fire people.” DUMB and DUMBER.

I said before the one way the GOP could win the election was to make it about OBAMA and that if Obama made the election about the GOP candidate, he would win. He did and he did.

Romney had a reputation as a flip-flopper on nearly every social issue, was tied to Massachusetts health care when MOST Americans reject Obamacare, and was successfully, in accurately, portrayed as a rich elitist corporate raider who stole American jobs.

When he COULD have won Florida and a large number of Hispanic votes, he blew it by picking a guy tied to [ushing grandma over the cliff, again inaccurately, but successfully.

Romney was a BAD candidate, NOT a conservative and ran a BAD campaign.

Add to that the collapse of ORCA, Hurricane Sandy and Chris Christie playing Iago, Judas and Benedict Arnold all rolled into won and that is why we lost/

STILL the popular vote difference was only 2% AND the Obama bastard got LESS votes than last time and even 10% of the black vote did NOT go to him.

So much for this crappy article.

Be sure you pound the desk with your fist very, very gently. You're right; the media must stop their spinning immediately or else. I'm not letting them do it anymore by refusing to...by not allowing...by using my infl...Oh, I don't know. What does Fox News suggest we do?

Romney stumbled on an obvious fact about human nature - people tend to favor the source of benefits that flow to them and tend to oppose having to pay. So, folks can say that they are in favor of small government, but in fact many of them support any benefits that they receive from government. These same folks can also oppose taxes that are imposed on them.

For example, I know many seniors who believe in small government, oppose taxes, hate socialism, but at the same time support both Social Security and Medicare. They no longer regard these senior programs as socialism.

And, by the way, they show up to vote in every election.

However it is phrased - the people who showed up and voted in big numbers - totally unanticipated by the conservatives, were on the receiving end of federal benefits.

A lot of principaled conservatives, many who visit this site, who could not stand Romney, obviously stayed home, based on all the numbers.

I understand that those that paid into Social Security or enjoy Medicare right now did nothing wrong; they are not “takers” and can still be conservative - but that doesn't mean that they bought into the Mediscare tactics of Obama and voted for him in self interest.

All those people voted to keep their free stuff coming.

What we didn't explain well enough that the stuff will be gone for everyone if we don't get our financial house in order. No one fears the “Greece” scenario because it looks far off in the future. It might be, if idiots still keep buying our Treasuries. Once they stop, however, there will be hell to pay.

I think the 47% comment was right on, without disparaging the group mentioned above.

I do not expect to have Soc Security when I reach retirement age and same for medicare. (Unfortunately, neither are that far off!) I have accepted that I will work until I die. Retirement is only for the gov’t and union workers going forward. We in the private sector have to keep working so they can enjoy their (unfunded) government retirements.

Fortunately, I like what I do. I better. Till death.

“Romney’s candor”

Filed after “frog hair” and before “rooster lips”.

In time to reflect on why Romeny lost, I have realized that it was a done deal long before election day.

The election was lost by Romney when on August 7 he agreed to allow the Audit the Federal Reserve” to be added to the GOP platform. Form that point forward he was done. THere are those who will never allow an audit of the Fed to occur....ever.

The rest is just window dressing.

A candidate's task is to win, not to to explain why he can't win.

If I wanted that kind of "smart" comments that turn out to be really stupid and harmful, I would have voted for Newt.

X-actly! That's why I did. And he carried my State in the primary. Oh, duh; that was a stupid thing for me to say.

His kid gloves treatment of Obama betrays that he is more on the side of the liberals than the conservatives.

More likely, after a good, hard-hitting performance in the first debate, the weak sister consultants got to him - horrified that the sight of white man beating up a somewhat blackish man on TV looked too "racist". Romney is on Romney's side, and if he had remembered that he could have won.

Maybe. But that's also standard campaign strategy. The closer to the general election you get the less angry and aggressive you get.

Admittedly, Mitt blew it. He didn't get it right, but most candidates make their points and show how different they are from their opponent early on, and then try not to open up any wounds in the last month.

Try it different next time and we'll see if it works any better.

There is nothing honest about Mitt Romney, that is why no one can pin down his politics, they change to fit each conversation.

Governor Mitt and wife Ann, were interacting with the Guatemalan illegals at their private home for 10 years. The landscaper that the illegals worked for, was a naturalized Colombian himself, personally chosen by Mitt, (A naturalized Colombian, Guatemalan illegals, and a sitting Governor during 4 years of that period), IDs better have been checked.

In December of 2006, the republican Governor was exposed, and suffered national embarrassment for using illegals for 10 years.

In December of 2007, in a national debate, Rudy Giuliani accused Mitt Romney of having run a “Sanctuary Mansion”. On national TV, Mitt Romney indignantly denied the claim.

A few days after the debate, the Boston Globe decided to look again at Mitt’s house, and guess what, they found Guatemalan illegals, they were working for the same Colombian, MITT HAD NEVER FIRED THEM!

Ten years and a national scandal, turned into 11 years, and into a second national scandal, with all the same players, the same “contractor”, Guatemalan illegals, and the same Mitt Romney and his wife interacting with them at their home during the week.

Voters bought into the RAT party’s and MSM’s propaganda that they’d lose the “free” stuff if Romney was elected. When was the last time that people lost the “free” stuff from the gummint? Lettuce recall that Obamaphones are actually Bushphones, that Social Security and unemployment are not “free stuff”, as workers and their employers have been paying into these insurance pots, and that Fed’s foo stam expenditures have only been growing and growing. I suppose on our side there are plenty of believers in this silly myth too, but the welfare state is, as it has been, here to stay. But the myths and stereotypes are convenient talking points and stuff of platitudes.

Romney was a RINO. McCain was a RINO. We lose.
Conservatives play nice. We bring boxing gloves to a gang gunfight. We lose.
We let them have our universities, public schools, unions, media, churches, election controls. We lose.
When do we care to stop losing?
