NBC's Todd Cites 'Very Smart' WH Aide Claiming With Today's GOP 'There'd Still Be Slavery'

Appearing on Monday's MSNBC Morning Joe, NBC chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd shared some inside information: "So I threw the Lincoln analogy at a close aide to the President last week, and he said, 'You know, with this Republican – with the way politics of Washington are today, there'd still be slavery.' That Lincoln wouldn't have been able to navigate the polarization..."

Rather than dismiss such a nasty partisan attack, Todd observed: "It was an interesting and depressing observation from this very smart White House aide."

If this isn’t just blatant LYING PROPAGANDA masquerading as objective journalism, ....

It’s like they don’t want to remember democrats were the founders of the KKK. That the KKK was established to terrorize blacks and white Republicans in the south.

That without Republicans giving Johnson the majority of the votes for the civil rights act, because the democrats wanted segregation and jim crow laws to continue, it wouldn’t have passed.

They ignore it wasn’t republicans that passed segregation and jim crow laws, and poll taxes on blacks.

It wasn’t Republicans that passed laws that blacks couldn’t own firearms for self defense, especially against the KKK.

Wasn’t Republicans that ran on separate but equal platforms as foundations of their party platforms.

Wasn’t Republicans that burned crosses on lawns of blacks.

Wasn’t Republicans blocking doors and keeping blacks out of “white” schools.

Wasn’t Republicans using government force to unleash the never-do-anything-wrong police with guns, clubs, mace, fire hoses, armored vehicles, and arrest powers, on black and white civil rights protestors.

I agree with you; but I bet this one doesn’t know either. He has a script.

Because Republicans don’t want Uncle Sam to Be Uncle Sugar Daddy, we’re the scapegoat for racism against blacks?

How convenient for the democrats. Seriously. Problem is you can’t wipe out what really happened because too many people know the truth.

Earl Butz earned the eternal hatred of millions of small family farmers when he said “get big or get out,” and led to the rise of major agribusiness corporations, and the declining financial stability of the small family farm.

I know my family surely did and it led many to pull the lever for Carter in ‘76. Just to get rid of him and his “Big Farm” corporation policies.

Not to get entrenched in philosophy, but I suggest that without liberty, happiness is an illusion.

Thanks for the ping.

This, from an individual who hasn’t read his nation’s history. In school we were taught that Lincoln’s party (Republican) was anti-slavery.

BO’s group is idolizing Lincoln. Which party did Lincoln belong to?

I believe a sizeable portion of BO’s supporters eat up these skewed statements because their culture is, at its very roots, illiterate and based not on written words and reason, but on oral tradition, folklore and superstition. (Yes, that includes everything from barbershop gossip and neighborhood hearsay to The Daily Show.) Hence the little schoolboy who said Romney would have black people “work in the crop fields.” One idea starts like a spark through grass and takes off.

He said Republicans today!

Given that President Obama was elected by an illiterate society (per Pravda), Todd can say anything he wants against the "bad" Republicans with credibility and appropriate cheering by all the king's morons, union thugs, the lady with the Obama phone, and dregs.
