On the face of it, Ms Wintour, 63, may not appear a natural candidate for international diplomacy.
Her reportedly aloof and demanding personality has earned her the nickname Nuclear Wintour and inspired the waspish character played by Meryl Streep in the film The Devil Wears Prada.
But according to Bloomberg News, Mr Obama has placed her on his short list to safeguard transatlantic relations at the Court of St James.
It would be hard to find a better connected ambassador in the fields of fashion and entertainment than Ms Wintour, who was awarded an OBE for services to British journalism and fashion in 2008, 20 years after she become editor-in-chief of the worlds leading fashion magazine.

Well there is one more political favor returned!!
Can’t wait to see which Ambassadorships Beyonce and Jay Z get.
Oh no, not the pageboy ‘do from h**l who calls overweight people `little houses’!
At least she’s not Joe Kennedy.
Hey Anna, the ‘50’s called, they want their haircut back.
What’s an ambassadorship go for these days???
“Ms. Wintour, who was awarded an OBE...”
OBE = Out-of-Body Experience? I feel like I’ve been having one since January 20, 2009.
You were around before Wm Jenning Bryan offered the Ambassadorship to Russia to "deserving Democrat" Henry M Pindell, editor of the Peoria Journal? You are old.

Well, if MI5 or MI6 ever need a liaison with the US over military cooperation or counterterrorism, it’s good to know that from our side we can discuss ladies’ fashion.
Another Obama triumph.
Not content merely to make us look bad, Obama wants to make us look like utter idiots.
And he’s doing marvelously well, thank you very much.
Isn’t there the small problem of her dual-nationality? I know she took American citizenship, but has she formally renounced her British citizenship too? It could be a bit of a conflict of interest to represent your new nation with the nation of your birth, even if they are an ally...
“...Ms Wintour, who was awarded an OBE for services to British journalism and fashion in 2008,...”
Isn’t there a line in the US Constitution saying our public officials are not supposed to accept foreign knighthoods or orders? Is this one more liberal instance of trashing the Constitution?
Anna Wintour is literally the personified, spitting image of Obama’s inner white bitch.
i dont thik dual citizensip is legally possible. the oath naturalized citizens take to be an american citizen clearly states they renounce all other citizenships.
