As close as elections usually are, if you take away the dead voters, the multiple voters, and the illegal alien voters, the Democrats would have o find another way to win elections!

Until LBJ came along Democrats didn't realize you could win elections simply by registering more Democrats and getting them out to vote.

They actually thought it was ideology and charismatic personality, plus great national calamities, that brought them votes FOR Democrats. They really didn't believe in the existence of Democrat Voters! That's one of the reasons they chated so hard all the time.

We continue to have this problem with Republicans ~ they think you go out and campaign and win people to your side that way. Never once do these loonietunes think that all they have to do is find Republican Voters, get them registered, and get them to show up to vote for them.

It was the great contribution of Goldwater to American political theory to advance the idea that there wasn't just one big old normal curve made up of voters to be won ~ that there were two great poles of politics in our societ ~ and it was the great contribution of LBJ to prove that Goldwater was right ~ and that large factions could be brought from one pole to the other with a big enough issue ~ so he promised black voters another civil rights act for 1965 if he won with their votes in 1964. They moved and they haven't been back.

BTW, LBJ got 97%. JFK only got 75% ~ there was still a large black Republican faction in 1964 ~ and it moved to the Democrat column!

I think the fact Romney lost so effortlessly rather underscores the Goldwater political theory (and the LBJ corollary) ~ there is no undecided 10% in the middle ~ 'cause 'air ain't no middle! And nobody is undecided!
