As it does with every new product of note, iFixIt tore apart Apple's new 21.5" iMac to see what's going on inside.
A surprising reveal: etching on the computer reads "Assembled in the USA," not China as usual.
9to5Mac points out that some Apple boxes have read "Assembled in the USA" in the past, but the assumption was that these devices were simply refurbished in the USA.
This is the first time that the words have appeared etched into the computer itself.
So it begs the question where is Apple's secret American assembly facility?

Any info on this? I have seen photos of engraving on some iMacs that say “Assembled in USA”... Sure would be nice if Apple could bring more assembly back to the US.
I think they are doing this specifically to kiss up to Obozo. A pre-emptive strike if you will. It won’t be much longer before he starts defending himself against the crappy job market by lashing out at “unpatriotic parasite employers”.
You don’t need a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows. And the folks at Apple are smarter than the average bear.
I googled that, sounds like it was a nice place once.
They had a plant in Colorado Springs ....many years ago...before the EPA killed the chip industry in the springs.. lots of chemicals in making chips
Apple probably contracts it out, like everybody else does.
