Harry Reid blames tea party for lack of fiscal cliff deal

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday blamed the tea party for both the lack of a deal on the fiscal cliff and the failure of the Senate to ratify a United Nations treaty on the rights of the disabled.

Speaking to reporters, the Senate’s top Democrat suggested that Speaker of the House John Boehner was unable to strike a deal with the White House to avert the fiscal cliff because the tea party members of his caucus would penalize him for it, potentially by taking away his speakership in the next session.

“I sympathize with John Boehner,” Reid said. “The tea party has a firm grip on the Republican Party. … This vocal minority contingent exerts tremendous influence over him and Republicans in the House and in the Senate.”

“Yesterday, Speaker Boehner put forward a plan that for the first time put a revenue number on paper,” Reid went on. “The proposal is not nearly enough to restore fiscal responsibility, and it would hurt middle-class families; yet it’s apparently enough to make the tea party scream bloody murder.”

Boehner has taken quite a bit of flak from the more conservative wing of his party after releasing a proposal to avert the fiscal cliff on Monday. President Barack Obama rejected the proposal, leaving talks stalled. (RELATED — Paul Ryan on fiscal cliff: ‘We’re nowhere. We‘re farther than where we started’)

Shows how clueless dingy is - the conservatives (TEA partiers) have been locked out of any participation by boehner.

And when are Republicans going to turn this around and start blaming ‘rats for the lack of progress, for holding the middle class “tax cut” hostage because of their obsession with their redistribute the wealth/tax the rich ideology, for threatening to throw the country back into recession rather than cmpromising - when oh when are they going to stop running around with big “Kick Me” signs on their backs.......

The Fiscal Cliff is the Democrats making, the taxes are a patch on the leaky boat. Harry and his cohorts are the loose cannons running around with shotguns blowing holes in the boat bottom. The deal is to buy them more shotgun shells.

I got an idea, how about a budget? Stay within the budget like any burger joint manager is able to do and you don’t have a fiscal cliff.

But it is so much easier for the Psycopaths to blame the doctors, they always do...

Tea party has been too damn civil and nice. The only way to deal with these scurrelous traitors and thieves is the way Egyptians deal with Morsi.

Perhaps when there is no money left to steal, till then the GOPe is in bed with the Democrats. It's Lobster and Caviar, till the well runs dry...

In other news rational people blame the socialists of both parties.

Hey Reid - Do you really think a smaller increase is actually a reduction in spending?

Imbicile!

After the election I thought at least we have the house, if they can stand firm. So now we have boehner punishing Conservative Congressmen. I wish my Congressman was Conservative enough to be punished.

No, but there is a large and growing group of people who call ourselves TEA Partiers.

Nice of Harry Reid to notice our existence!
We noticed Harry Reid several years ago.

If we have our way, Harry and his “friends” will learn via direct experience what happens when there is no more money to pay his salary, and what he undoubtedly expects his pension to include.

Sadly, federal prisons are much nicer than any state or county detention facilities, for now.

I sent a fax to Congressman Allen West’s office suggesting he start and lead a foundation to study and cure voter fraud in the United States. I think he would be perfect for the task. Hope others will join me in asking him to keep involved.

There is an all-out assault to get our money. ALL the Tea Party is demanding is “We are taxed enough”.

That is not good enough for the Dems and liberal republicnas. They all want our money.

I’m thinking about intentionally not earning enough money son that they can’t get enough taxes. That will show them.

If the Tea Party gets its act together to become an actual political party, I will offer them my free services as a Texas Election law expert and will make myself an expert on every state’s election law so I can help them along.

I don’t do this lightly because it will take over my life to go through every state’s election law, but it will be worth it in the end if we manage to save this country for our children/grandchildren by electing a conservative President some day if the country doesn’t collapse before then. (That sentence is a run on sentence and I don’t care.)
