WASHINGTON Just one day after tax activist Grover Norquist warned Democrats are coming after the middle class for $3 trillion in tax hikes, another conservative leader says it appears the big GOP strategy is to figure out how to surrender.
Bozell, founder of the Media Research Center, told WND today that the Republican leadership is lacking vision, resents its own conservative base and needs to refocus.
If the Republicans continue a campaign of presenting themselves as Democrat-lite, they are going to see the losses increase. It will not be long before the Democrats are in complete control, he told WND in an interview.
The issue isnt that Republicans are losing but that Republicans are not being Republican and thats why theyre losing.
Whenever a Republican distinguishes himself from a Democrat, he wins, he said. Whenever he acts like a Democrat, he loses. You cannot out-Democrat a Democrat.
He cited GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney as an example.
Romney was ill-prepared to tackle Barack Obama, as the former venture capitalist epitomized the stereotypical rich, elitist Republican that does not connect with the average person, he said.
And he didnt make sure voters knew he was different. Bozell said the way Republicans win is when they dont campaign like Democrats.
That, after all, Bozell said, is what Ronald Reagan did. Romney did it only once, he said.
There was one day in the entire general election when he distinguished himself from Obama, and that was the first debate, he said.
At that point, the GOP base was active and enthused. But it wasnt sustained, he said.
He said the Republican Party also must reach out to its own base again.
The left has a record of failure that they are doubling

Bozell sums it up better than anyone else with that phrase
The road back begins with realizing the GOPe aren’t republicans. They’re democrats - the GOP was a temporary vehicle for them to win their districts.
Well put!
The best ultra-liberal RINO friend Obama has in the house is Boehner.
The GOP needs someone with real testicles.
Not someone that cry’s when the democrats don’t get their way.
Well of course.
We Conservatives, Tea Partiers, etc are being purged and marginalized.
OK to leave the GOP now??
I wonder What Mr. Bozell considers “complete control”? It appears to me that the dems have that right now - what would a dem do if he/she were GOP speaker?
Kick the two most conservative members off of the Budget Committee?
Get as many photo ops as possible sucking up to bo, patting his arm fondly?
Concede the idea of “revenue enhancement” before any mention of spending cuts from the other side?
What more could they wish for? They control the White House, they control the Senate, they control Boehner who controls the GOP which “controls” the House, they control the Supreme Court (Thank you Justice Roberts).
I have cast my last vote for a Republican - period. Time to toss out the filthy, dirty water folks.
I've always thought this, too. They have been doing this systematically for years. Now, we have this deep within.
The GOP knows exactly what they’re doing. They’re getting in bed with the new socialist/fascist government hoping that they’ll be nationalized last, while milking all of the profits from the corpse of industry while they can. Consolidation of government control over private production is the name of the game now.
Is there any point in staying?
They are strategizing their own well deserved suicide.
Sadly, that's a "dog bites man" kind of headline.
Bingo.
This phenomena started right after the Reagan years and politicians (Dimwits) saw how local districts starting going red. Take Texas, before the late 80’s to 90’s Texas was a Democrat stronghold at the district and state level, in the span of a decade it went red. Amazingly it is still predominately red by district, but the state as a whole populus vote (thanks to illegals and dim metroplexes) maybe purple by 2020.
These GOPe people say a way to get elected by riding the wave. There are a few who may have “awaken” to switch to a R but most just took one step right and said looky I am a Republican, case Rick Perry. We will see whether his switch to partial Republican years ago can stand the next few years when it counts standing up to Nobamacare and the likes.
“The issue isnt that Republicans are losing but that Republicans are not being Republican and thats why theyre losing.”
When you get an echo, and not a choice.....
