"What I was talking about here, and I'm sorry if that wasn't clear to everybody, was a gun culture. I never mentioned the Second Amendment. I never used the words gun control. People inferred that. Now do I believe we need more comprehensive and more sensible gun control legislation? Yes, I do. That doesn't mean repeal the Second Amendment. That doesn't mean a prohibition on somebody having a gun to protect their home and their family. It means sensible and more comprehensive gun control legislation." - Bob Costas

Translation: I want it to be so difficult to purchase and be licensed to own a gun that no one will be able to do it. That way, we keep citizens from having guns but can pretend that we haven't really violated the Second Amendment. I'm sure that criminals will be happy to obey all the new, stricter gun laws. I also believe in unicorns. Really.

Yes, and also note:

“That doesn’t mean repeal the Second Amendment. That doesn’t mean a prohibition on somebody having a gun to protect their home and their family.”

He says protect their home, and protect their family, but he conveniently leaves out “protect themselves”, which is the more basic and fundamental aspect of the right. He wants, like the rest of the libs, including our “conservative” Supreme Court justices, to neuter the 2nd Amendment by constraining it to only be applicable on private property.
