Andrew Napolitano: Why are GOP leaders helping Obama spend us into oblivion?
Do you know anyone who voted Republican this past election in order to further President Obamas big-government agenda? Or is it more likely that Republican voters sought to advance a smaller version of the federal government? And if they did, why are Republican congressional leaders offering to help the president spend us into oblivion?
I suspected that those questions might have been asked when Mitt Romney was nominated to oppose Obama. My view of his campaign then and now has been that he presented a choice to the voters of big government versus bigger government, and bigger government prevailed. Romney argued during the campaign that he was at a disadvantage because the president had distributed federal tax dollars to persons and groups critical to his re-election. He has since argued that he lost the election because nearly half of Americans some by chance, some by choice and some by force are dependent on government for much of their income or subsistence.
His argument sounds harsh, but its true. A formerly working and now retired couple in their mid-80s who are receiving monthly payments from the Social Security Administration into which they were forced to make payments while they were working can hardly be considered slackers. But they can be considered dupes. All of us who have fallen for the governments nonsense about it holding our money for our future use have been duped. The government doesnt hold anyones money for him. It spends whatever it collects as soon as it receives it. When its entitlement bills come due, it uses current tax revenue, or it borrows money in order to acquire the cash to make the payments.

Sub-sects of the GOP have always wanted a certain amount of Bigger Government. Different areas of control, but still entirely too willing to toss their lot in with the Dems as long as they get More Government.
Everone yells about grid lock but I think it is exactly the opposite. I think there is broad consensus in DC for continuing doing exactly what we are doing, but more so.
All these supposed fights are just an act to distract us from this fact.
And I think DeMint just told us he agrees with what I just said.

“All of us who have fallen for the governments nonsense about it holding our money for our future use have been duped.”
I’ve paid into the ponzi racket for 40 years but I wasn’t duped. The money was taken by force with the potential of jail time to enforce the payment.
If you are counting on SS then you really are a fool. Even Bernie Madoff sent out statements to his “investors” showing what they had in his fund. There is no SS trust fund.
I agree with that, been happening for many years now.
While in this distraction, they are already behind closed doors to agree on what the next "CRISIS" distraction will be, as this current Crisis has already been FIXED.
When the Republicans controlled the House, The Senate, the Whitehouse what really changed? Not a dam thing.
DOG = Dependent on Government
You are correct. Now you have answered the question of WHY they HAD to get rid of NEWT GINGRICH. He was destroying the playbook they share with the Democrats.
Less than an hour after I typed that I was listening to Rush interview DeMint. He used almost the same words. It was spooky.
Wish I had heard that interview. WOW.
He said something like
Are you leaving because you are frustrated? Ya know for a while the Republicans controlled the house and the Senate and the White house and almost nothing changed.
For the R's to be in control, they would have to be held accountable.
It is a Good Cop, Bad Cop thing: R's get to play the GOOD Cop, let the Dems be the BAD Cop, as we all know the Dems have no moral compass on anything, and the R's still get their PERKS and get to pretend to us they are the GOOD cop.
See we TRIED, re-elect us. OH,OK at least you tried.
For any Real conservative Republican to try and vear off that plantation, they will be severely punished until they fall back in line. Boehner BOOTs 3 from committee.
We need someone who is a dominant leader in the Republican Party. Someone who will not back down and will always do the right thing. A new big bold leader!
