President Obama hosted New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at the White House Thursday morning in an unannounced visit that comes as the administration is preparing a major emergency spending request to cover damage from Hurricane Sandy.
News reports have said the request would be $50 billion, and Mr. Christie reportedly wants tens of billions of dollars more.
White House spokesman Jay Carney declined to talk about specifics from the meeting or to say how much Mr. Obama will request.
"The president is very focused on assisting New Jersey and New York and other affected states in their recovery efforts," he said. "We are working on a request and that request is still being developed and we continue to hope we'll have that request sent up soon."
During the super storm that came during the last days of the presidential campaign, Mr. Christie made headlines for heaping praise on the president for his handling if the federal government's response to Sandy.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he got a cabinet position. He’s probably delusional enough to think that being part of an Obama cabinet will boost his chances of getting the GOP nod in 2016.
I guess it wasn’t enough for them to see the disaster in New Jersey together. They had to see the disaster in The White House too.......

I still believe that Christie was pissed that Romney didn’t ask him to be the VP and the whole 0bama hugfest was to stick it to Romney.
Why didn’t he invite Romney (possible president) to tour the devastation, at the time he was leading in the polls ?
IMO, Christie saw that if Romney won, and won a second term, the Paul Ryan(VP) would run next for president, the first possible chance for him to run would have been 2024 or 2028 - I’ll bet he is on the Jeb Bush team.
