The tallest wave back then during the BIG ONE was 133 feet, last year, in Miyagi Prefecture, in the same red area that I have on my Japanese map posted from NHK, the red area representing the area they are telling people to get away from the coast, dont stand around, dont go downto rubberneck, but make for high ground.

The 1 meters was reported at Miyagi. This quake was about 100 times less powerful the 311. So hopefully the Tsunamis wont be very bad.

I would imagine tsunami warnings for at least another two hours or so until waves have come in, just to be 200% sure. They dont want any humans near that Pacific Coast at all, and avoid completely what happened to them last year. Then people can start going back down the hills to home in the dark, but they won’t sleep very well tonight, even if there are no more aftershocks (and I think for one this big, there probably would be minor aftershocks, but even that is enough to make your nerves shot and/or reach for the Jack Daniels).

The Planet seems to be doing just fine on its own....Doing what a planet like earth is supposed to be doing at this stage in its life cycle. Ask the Japanese if The Planet needs us to save it.

Or is it the beginning of The End according to modern interpretations of an ancient Mayan calendar?

December 7, 2012...a date which may or may not live in comparison.

The USGS has 6 quakes listed on Japan’s east coast in the last 90 minutes or so. In order, 7.3, 6.2, 5.5, 4.7, 4.7, and 4.8 being the most recent. And on the map they occurred in an almost perfect oval pattern. With the most recent aftershock occurring very near to the original 7.3. Pretty crazy, I have no idea if that is normal, but from this untrained eye it seems weird.

That’s a long quake. I live there from 95-98 and the worst one we had was in the low 5’s. It freaked me out because it started shaking side to side and the amplitude kept getting bigger.

I think so far the waves are maybe a foot or two in heigth. Nothing massive yet reported like 3-11 disaster, Yet. But as time passes and they don’t come in that is a good trend. Need to check the nuke plants, any damage to them, that is probably of prime importance, or, landslides that could buy roads, cars, houses, people just walking. There are reports of some light injuries coming in now in Chiba Prefecture. This is how it always happens. Slowly reports of a few injuries start to come in and then they compound after that.

Press report is that this is an aftershock (and a large one at that) of the huge March 11, 2011 Earthquake in Japan. I am sure there is physical damage to some extent, maybe some injuries, I don’t know about deaths yet. If no casulties, they dodged a bullet but this happened in the same area as last year, so this is enough to really put those people on edge. They are ruddy, orderly, stoic, usually cool and collected, not generally given to complaining, but humans can only take so much you know. Now report that a 3 foot tall wave came ashore at Ishinomaki, one of the main areas of disaster from last year.

All clear now, warnings and advisories for tsunami along the coast there just lifted. I guess people can start coming down from the hills and tops of tall buildings now.

Well. Now that THAT is essentially over (all clear for waves officially given).

Japan goes on to have to worry about THIS:

from as early as next week until about the 22nd, from their sweet neighbors the North Koreans. If it isnt one thing its another over here.

Quake’s epicenter was up northeast of Tokyo near Fukushima . We’re down south in Kyushu so unaffected . Can’t help but sometimes feeling though that the whole place will blow one of these days .
