To: Excuse_My_Bellicosity
While working an air exercise over the Nellis AFB range, I think my ears popped on the pucker-factor when an Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) went off in the middle of a 4V4 “fur ball” (4V4 - four aircraft attacking, 4 aircraft defending). By the time radar control got everyone separated and into neutral corners, they found out that one of the aircraft had a malfunction and the alarm was in error. The radio chatter was quite amusing as they directed the pilot back to base.

ELT on the ramp doesn't give you that pucker feeling, but it does give you that "ohmygodI'mgoingtobewalkingmiles" feeling. ;)
