City officials in Brussels have announced that the traditional Christmas tree will not be displayed in the public square due to concerns that it might offend the minority Muslim population.
It seems that the insanity of political correctness is reaching a frenzied apex. Now, any reference to Christianity whatsoever will not be tolerated by “open-minded” liberals. Brussels councilwoman Bianca Debaets told reporters that a “misplaced argument” over religious sensitivities caused the city to remove the traditional Christmas tree and replace it with a “winter” sculpture. To further make her point, she remarked that any city display must not be referred to as “Christmas.” Brussels removed a Christian symbol and replaced it with a secular one, although it is unclear what the new display symbolizes.
“I suspect that the reference to the Christian religion was the decisive factor,” she told reporters about the decision to replace the tree. “For a lot of people who are not Christians, the tree there is offensive to them.”[1] One is left with the hollow words so often hurled forth by leftists when burning a flag, “it’s only a piece of cloth.” Yet one will not hear from these same liberals the argument that this tree is “only a tree.”
If one were to take the logic of the arguments used by the Brussels city council to their final consequences, there is nothing that could not be banned. The whole material world is symbolic, to some extent, of ideals or abstract principles. Architecture, for example, is full of symbolic constructions to convey the principles, good or bad that the architects want to represent. Likewise, any art form or fashion makes use of symbols.
The key factor in this case is that the symbolism is Christian, which these liberal-minded people find objectionable and shriek that it is offensive. It is hard to see why the tree is offensive. According to Merriam-Webster, the synonyms for offensive are: abhorrent, abominable, appalling, awful, disgusting, distasteful, dreadful, evil, foul, fulsome, gross, hideous, horrendous, horrible, horrid, loathsome, nasty, nauseating, nauseous, noisome, noxious, obnoxious, obscene, odious, rancid, repellent, repugnant, repulsive, revolting, scandalous, shocking, sickening and ugly.[2] Somehow, it is a massive stretch of the imagination to conclude that an innocent and marvelous Christmas tree that so delights children is offensive.
This act to remove the Christmas tree in Brussels is but one more example of the global assault against Our Lord Jesus Christ and everything that represents Him. The result of this insane behavior, fostered by political correctness, is to conclude that the war against Christmas is, well, for lack of a more appropriate word, offensive.
Life, in man years, only lasts an infinitesimal while to us, while an entire eternity in suffering for the crimes committed against the Creator lasts an eternity.
I realize its difficult for some to wrap their small minds around the universe, the world and how everything can work magnificiently for us. But what He gave isn't an iPod, rather, it is life itself and a chance to prove that our lives need not end in a earthly grave.
The desecretion, the dishonor to God can be forgiven and a rewakening in the love of our kind and just creator can erase all the evil we've done by turning our back on Him and instead reveling in all the worldly things.

Very true although, what been sorely lacking over the past years in my view is the genuine Christmas Spirit.
Even the "idea" of what Christmas is really all about (JOY) makes some selfish people angry. Jesus' whole message was love and take care of one another.
There is spirit in this much more so than material.

Here's a nice ice sculpture that fits their "winter sculpture" requirement and is not Christian. I hope a sculptor goes all out to send a message of peace, joy, love, and light despite the evil of the far left fringe.

By "offend" I presume they mean that the muzzies will start beheading and blowing up Belgians because of the Christmas tree.
Maybe they should just erect an ice carved finger because that is what they are giving to the majority....

They see it growing and they cower before it.
They should be fighting and instead they are capitulating.
We are doing the same thing in this country, soon it will be too late.
I really went overboard with the Christmas decorations this year. Put them up the day after Thanksgiving. I intend to REALLY “offend” the Obamazombie, commie lib Democrats this year. Might go get more stuff and put that up too!

Although the connection is a bit obscure way back in prehistory it was commonly the case that the victim of a human sacrifice would be decorated like a Cristmas tree, then murdered and tossed in a bog where they'd be mummified which is why we know how they did this.
The Christmas tree was introduced in areas that'd abolished human sacrifice. WIth the return of human sacrifice to the Low countries it's just logical that they eliminate the Christmas tree.
Brussels is also the city that has repeatedly banned its policemen from eating in public during Ramadan to avoid offending the muslim scum.
This is the first year it has affected me personally. I teach in a small town in Mississippi & I am on the Christmas program planning committee. We have several Muslim families in our elementary school & YES, a family complained that they did not want a Christmas program.
People were extremely mad. It is a majority black school & staff..............it’s not going to go down well.
Time to send Mr. Garrison over there
