Why Obama's 'Balanced Approach' Doesn't Work

We hear a lot from freshly re-elected President Obama about the importance of a "balanced approach" to dealing with the USA's mounting debt crisis and the upcoming fiscal cliff that America faces in 2013.

Bob Woodward's latest book, The Price of Politics, shows that the president laid out his balanced approach many times during the debt-ceiling crisis in 2011. This proposal involves varying mixes of spending cuts (that appeal to the right) and tax increases (that appeal to the left). Since his re-election, Obama has doubled down, saying that he will not accept spending cuts unless they are accompanied by tax increases, at least on the wealthy.

The phrase "balanced approach" is a dangerous one about which conservatives need to be on their toes. Balance is seen as a synonym for "moderate" by many in the electorate, and this seemingly centrist stance is bundled up with what appears to be common sense. We have a deficit between what we spend and what we bring in, therefore we should increase our revenue, and we decrease our spending. Seems to make sense, right?

Indeed, Obama proclaimed a few weeks ago:

*****

On Tuesday, we found out that the majority of Americans agree with my approach -- that includes Democrats, Independents, and Republicans.

*****

This may be the case, but economic truth is not determined by a majority vote.

The problem is that Obama's plan doesn't work, nor does it deal directly with the crisis at hand.

Because when Obama and his apologists use the terms “balance” or “fair”, they are mere propaganda tools for his COMMUNIST OBJECTIVES.

He wants to destroy America and it’s position in the world.

As a true “anti-colonialist”, Obama disapproves of America’s freedom, wealth, productivity, and influence in the world.

Because talent, intelligence, and will power, CAN NOT BE REDISTRIBUTED, he feels compelled to tax and regulate them out of control and influence.

Obama has never been about anything balanced. He has been throughout his adult life a committed enemy of the American tradition. There is nothing "balanced" or "fair" about that.

We need to challenge Obama at every turn. But we need to do so more effectively in the future. As I posted the other day:

In hanging tough, House Conservatives need to reiterate a combination of talking points; never let themselves be interviewed without starting by clarifying their position against Obama's Class-Warfare attitude on Taxation:

1. Class-Warfare is immoral & unamerican.

2. A tax system that punishes success to reward failure is economically insane.

3. The Founding Fathers considered the use of taxation to redistribute wealth to be totally unacceptable (Art. I, Sec. 9). Having sworn to uphold the Constitution, one cannot vote for redistribution of wealth.

4. During the 124 years, from 1789 til 1913, when we followed the Founder's Taxing policy, we had the greatest material growth rate of any people on earth--and we retained our spiritual values in the process. Nothing, proportionately, or adjusted for inflation, has since compared! (And just look at what the class-warfare mentality has done to our spiritual values!)

Do not let anyone put Obama's definitions into anyone on our side's mouth. Obama has never been about "fairness," anymore than Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Hitler or Castro were ever about "fairness."

Obama’s idea of balance is to steal your money with one hand and dish it out to his people with the other.

He is the biggest crook in history - he makes the bank robbers of the 1920s and 1930s look like pikers.
