Today’s Houston Chronicle tells a different story. The driver put the car in reverse after he opened the door and backed up, not sure when he fired the shot. On the news last night I remember that it was said he was in fear of being run over.

Oh, good grief. Read links or google the story. The thieves sped off leaving the cop on his backside without his shoes. The ended up a mile away at home. The EMS/Fire Dept. arrived shortly after, worked on her and pronounced her dead at the scene. The cops were there and arrested the friends who let her bleed out. The apartment complex had something to gossip about about over the weekend and the msm got the usual “but she was such a good person” quotes.

I back in 99.9% of the time...Habit from career job Plus it easier to get out.

I am with you on this. Much easier to do than to back out of the spot, and much safer.

I am always surprised how many people are unwilling to understand this.

One in ten balloons had a FREE slip in it...

I remember that, but I probably should not admit it...

An euphemism for whatever a wounded animal leaves behind. An honest hunter looks for the animal and dispatches it as humanely as possible. A cruel person just walks off.

So, what did the cops do? Anyone now?

I did read the story. A neighbor found her in the car bleeding ~ and talking.

Were the cops already looking for her or not?

You can easily bust out most any vehicle side window with a chunk of the ceramic from a sparkplug.

I think the driver took off out of the WalMart parking lot. Not much chance to follow on her tail. Once she left and got into the traffic (do you have any idea how big and busy Houston is?) Unless there was a cop car right there with a cop behind the wheel, I’d say no, they didn’t follow her. The driver of the car and the other passenger are the ones who left her to die in the parked car, not the police. Houston has a 24 hour emergency hospital about every 1/2 mile, sometimes closer, her friend could have taken her to one of those places. You can keep blaming the cop but I am blaming first her own stupidity and 2nd her friends.

Still curious what the guard/cop did ~ certainly he wasn't just lying there in the parking lot ~ don't those guys get walkietalkies to call in?

Remember, if he shot because he was going to be run over otherwise, his problem is with the door open he shot a passenger rather than the driver.

We need to see the Sheriff tell us that it's all on the video!

note; regarding how big Houston is, I’ve been there many times ~ even in the wee hours of the morning driving around trying to find postal installations ~ doing stuff on the streets ~ whatever. There’s a huge postal investment in the Houston metro. Been there. Done that. Lots of cars.

Then I should not have to explain how the driver could have easily slipped out of the parking lot and disappeared.

Then you do have to ‘splain where you get eye witnesses independent of the cop, and if the videos are not made available for our detailed examination!

You'll find that somewhere in the vicinity of the first full description of the event a Freeper used the term 'run over', which may be more applicable than 'run down',

That's exactly why I didn't comment until after I had done research on the story. Intentionally run over or run down, either could take one's life.

The dopey cop put himself in that danger by trying to enter a moving vehicle.

I’m not sure about you but I have never seen anyone get into a vehicle in a wally parking lot without opening a door and I’ve never seen them get in that open door with the vehicle moving. So the door had to be open before the car was moved. Your assumption that he put himself there when the vehicle was moving is bogus. I believe that he was in the way and the lady started the vehicle and started moving it.
It really does not matter he was local law enforcement and she had the responsibility to follow his orders to stop the car.
Following your train of thought no one would have to follow Law Enforcement officers instructions. They could just try and run over them instead and that is just OK. That does not work for me or in any court that I know of.

As a rule of thumb I’ve learned to demand bullet holes in the front windshield as a necessary adjunct

My care and truck both have a reverse in them. Do you drive a vehicle that only goes forward??? How do you ever get out of a parking space in a busy parking lot????

The ONLY thing in this article worth considering is why it is that we invariably know, without reading the article, that these are Obama’s people.
