Death because she tried to run the guard over.

If she would have given up and not tried to kill the guard with her vehicle she would be a live today.

Any scumbag career criminal that happens to get offed during the commission of their crime gets no sympathy from me. Good riddence to the them. These are the types of human vermin that have helped turn the country into such a sewer. I’d pin a medal on the officer.

I agree. No one should be killed for shoplifting.

I can’t stand that reporter with the smarmy voice. Okay for TMZ but not appropriate for this type of subject.

He said he was pinned between the car door and the drivers seat while the car was accelerating backward.

http://www.chron.com/default/article/Deputy-shoots-and-kills-suspected-shoplifter-4099921.php

“Campbell confronted the women in the doorway and ordered them to stop. They tried to force their way past him. One of the women, later identified as Frey, hit the deputy and ran.... Campbell opened the car door and ordered Frey to get out. But she refused, officials said. Andrews began to drive away while the deputy was standing between the open door and the driver’s seat. She threw it in reverse and tried to run over the deputy”

The officer was not a fault. The theives were at fault. The driver is being held in jail on aggrevated robbery with a deadly weapon and the other for robbery. Since they committed crime in which a preson was killed, they will most likely be charged with murder. That’s three less scum off the streets.

Whenever I'm in NYC I try to stop in to B&H Photo,a large and well stocked electronics store.

Worth it for the experience alone.

Does speeding through a crowded parking lot full of people qualify?

That is a very good question. The parking lot can be crowded or deserted. The exit from the lot can be close by or far away. How fast, exactly, was the car moving? Was there anyone to protect or not? This is something that can be answered only by investigators at the site, considering all of the above and more. Otherwise the police eventually will get the right to shoot us whenever they feel to it, no questions asked - just like they shoot dogs today. The fact that this particular victim is unsympathetic makes the slope even more slippery.

Stay in Israel. Apparently they love shoplifters who try to run down policemen there.

Wow. A criminal who breaks the law. I’m shocked. And the British are idiots who can’t tell victims from perps.

One minor correction:”That makes it self defense in my book, and everyone (especially Israel, of course!) has an absolute right of self defense!”

At the point they hit the officer while going out the door, the offence became “assaulting an officer while resisting arrest “. Do that, and you generally WILL be shot.

Trick with the shoes is it takes an awful lot of force to yank you out of your shoes ~ just saw that on one of those Myth Busters shows ~ they had to almost demolish the imitation flesh dummy to bust him out of his shoes.

I've not seen that episode, but I suspect it involved a blast of some sort. Having played high school football, I know it's not unusual to see a shoe knocked loose. Getting snagged by an open car door and dragged sideways seems like a perfectly plausible way to get your shoes pulled off. If the driver cut the wheel to the right (swinging the front of the car to the left), the left front tire might've helped pull his shoes off.
