CNN reporting Morsi has backed down on the expanded powers, but is still insisting on the referendum.
Pulling a John Kerry, eh?
I’ve read the CNN story three times and i can find absolutely no specifics about which elements of his decree Morsi It’s been years since I took Journalism 101,but my profs would have humiliated me for writing a story with zero new facts and filled with well known bromides and glittering generalities.
The protesters rioting in front of Mohamed Morsi’s palace don’t seem like the type of folks who will simply blow out their burning flags and walk away peacefully just because Mr. Morsi has made a promise to cancel his foray into totalitarianism.
But if the protesters don’t stop rioting after Mr. Morsi’s statement, it will mean they won’t be satisfied until Mr. Morsi himself steps down, and then what?
“...the fragile democracy...”
If a stinking, murderous, piece-of-subhuman-muzzie-filth is involved, it’s NOT a democracy. It’s a caliphate nightmare, waiting to happen.
Thanks much for posting, Jeff. Very interesting.
