As Egypt under the heel of Mohamed Morsi unravels, here’s the late-breaking news: The Muslim Brotherhood is the enemy of democracy.
This has always been obvious to anyone who took the time to look into it. Nevertheless, it has not been an easy point to make lo these many years. Even as the Justice Department proved beyond any doubt in court that the Brotherhood’s major goal in America and Europe — its self-professed “grand jihad” — is “eliminating and destroying Western civilization,” to have the temerity to point this out is to be smeared as an “Islamophobe.” That’s the Islamophilic Left’s code for “racist.”
Nor is it just the Left. Like the transnational progressives who hold sway in Democratic circles, many of the neoconservative thinkers who have captured Republican foreign-policy making encourage “outreach” to “moderate Islamists” — a ludicrously self-contradictory term. The idea is to collaborate in the construction of “Islamic democracies.” That’s another nonsensical term — to borrow Michael Rubin’s quote of a moderate Muslim academic piqued by the encroachments of Turkey’s ruling Islamists, “We are a democracy. Islam has nothing to do with it.” That is clearly right. Yet, to argue the chimerical folly of the sharia-democracy experiment is to be demagogued as an “isolationist.” It is as if the Right can no longer fathom an engaged foreign policy that concentrates solely on vital U.S. interests and treats America’s enemies as, well, enemies.

If a financial collapse occurs hard in the US - these guys are going to be the ones on the sidelines waiting to fill the power vacuum - if there is any indication of the absence of govt in localized natural disasters - just how ineffective the federal govt will be if there is a nationwide event!

How convenient for Obama that he needs go no further than Huma Abedin to check whether the Brotherhood objects to any of his drone strikes on militants. Most likely he’s settling their scores anyway.

Why its the ordinary US citizen so blind to this?
In the early 1970’s I took a college class on the history of the Middle East from the time of Mohammed to the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948. The professor was extremely good and non-PC so we were given an untainted view of the Muslim religion, sharia law, and the cultures in the region. Of particular interest was the tribal nature of the societies in the region as well as the extreme hatred Sunni and Shia Muslims feel for each other.
As I’ve observed US foreign policy over the past 40+ years it is clear the people developing our policies are either extremely naive or have zero knowledge of the people, history and culture of the region. When George W. Bush started spouting off about turning Iraq in to a democratic state I knew he and his advisors were clueless and leading the nation into another Vietnam swamp that would drain the treasury, kill thousands, wrap us up militarily for years, and have not a prayer of accomplishing the objective. In fact, all Bush really accomplished was to destroy the natural balance of power between Shia Iran and Sunni (at the time) Iraq which actually benefited the United States. Instead of being an independent player, Iraq now has a Shia government under the control of Iran.
Likewise the current administration’s support of the Arab Spring “democracy” movement is another misguided adventure trying to establish democracy in a region where no cultural democratic traditions or institutions exist. Instead of seeing the promised democratic governments arising we are seeing brutal military dictators somewhat aligned with our national interests replaced with radical Islamic dictators pledging to destroy us and our civilization. The outcome of the Arab Spring was predictable to anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of the region and culture.
Egypt will become an Islamic dictatorship unless we are prepared to deploy troops to stop it, which we are not. Once Assad falls, Syria also become a Sunni Islamic dictatorship and Jordan will fall to the Islamists soon after Syria. Today the Saudi monarchy has a major succession issue caught up in both family and generational politics. No doubt the Islamists see Saudi Arabia as being extremely vulnerable for its own Arab Spring and are working actively to destabilize that country. If Islamists take over Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen, Oman and the Emirates will also fall. Then, the potential exists for a charismatic leader to emerge who can transcend the tribal rivalries and unite the Sunni Islamic region under one umbrella government.
Given this very real threat, the US government should be aggressively pursuing an energy strategy with the goal of removing our nation from any dependence on energy supplies from the Middle East. Western Europe should be arming to protect its Middle East oil supply chain and prepare for the potential threat of a united Sunni Arab world seeking to spread Islam to Europe. Both the US and Europe should be considering foreign policy strategies with respect to encouraging a natural rivalry and balance of power between a Shia Islamic Iran and a unified Sunni Islamic state centered in Egypt, Saudi Arabia or Turkey.
Instead our government is employing environmental regulations to prevent energy independence in the near term while trying to facilitate the Islamic takeover of Syria, just as we facilitated the Islamic takeover of Egypt and Libya.
The only strategic interest of the US in the Middle East is protecting our energy supply. While we may be friendly to Israel due to shared cultural and religious traditions, Israel has no strategic interest to the US once the US is not dependent on the Middle East for petroleum. The leaders in the Muslim world understand this and are acting accordingly as the US becomes less dependent on oil from the region and the American people become tired of decades long deployments of military forces in the region. While the Obama administration is very involved in establishing Islamic rule in the region by supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, everyone one knows the US will be pulling its troops out of the region over the next 2-3 years and is unlikely to again intervene with military forces. This leaves Israel on its own against a potentially united Sunni Muslim world and a hostile Shia Iran. While both the Sunni’s and the Shiites are natural rivals, they are both united in the the desire to eliminate Israel. Israel is doomed because it is not strategically important to any powerful nation state outside the region and is very important from a cultural perspective to the dominant religion in the region. It is difficult to see how Israel can survive in the long term without powerful allies. While it can threaten the use of nuclear weapons, to use them would make it a pariah state. Once Iran has nuclear capability, Israel will be destroyed if it tries to use nuclear weapons for defense or offense.
We also must recognize we aren’t the only external actor in the region and likely will not control events in the future without a military presence. Russia has an interest in an unstable Middle East because it makes Western Europe more dependent on Russia for energy supplies. China, with its growing appetite for imported oil and its growing strategic investments in African natural resources has an interest in Middle East stability. Western Europe wants a stable Middle Eastern energy supply line so it will not be highly dependent on Russia for energy. India may also have a strategic interest in Middle East energy and want to play a role in shaping events in the region.
The United States needs a new foreign policy based on the Middle East being less strategically important to our energy supplies, the realities of what is possible given the cultural traditions we cannot change, and interests of other nations. It may be the best policy is to withdraw from the region entirely, leaving the Russians, Chinese, and Western Europeans to worry about the expansion of radical Islam. In fact Russia might step in to guarantee the security of Israel give its strategic interest Middle East instability.
The ordinary US citizen is absolutely incapable of understanding ideas at this level. The average American citizen is intellectually incabable of reading and comprehending an average Andrew McCarthy or Thomas Sowell article.
I don’t know — things like this concern me 24/7...there are so many more important issues out there right now that need to be dealt with than camping out on Black Friday - or what new hollywood movie is about to come out...I know it’s stressful - but I would rather be stressed and informed - than quiet and a target!
Because it is like realizing you have cancer. There is plenty of up close and personal examples of what happens if you ignore it. You have to take some unpleasant and inconvenient means to combat cancer.HYour life depends on it.
In the case of cancerous Islam, the fatality for you is not immediately clear, and ignoring the Islamic problem becomes a lot easier. Especially in a politically correct and multi- cultural enviroment. - Tom

As far fetched as it seems, as unlikely a plan to succeed, it is exactly like that.
The president is an enemy of the state. A enemy to the Constitution and all who have sworn allegiance to it.
