I can’t help wondering, just where did those two bullets end up? Weapon in photo appears to be a 38 spec. or larger, so those two bullets could have ended up inside a neighbors house or worse. Just a thought.

Always a possibility, but if they had, I'm sure the story would have mentioned it and been an avenue for the rabid anti-gun sector. If you're really worried about it, jump on the anti-gun bandwagon - there is almost never a sure-fire protection from collateral damage when a citizen uses a gun to defend himself - just ask the cops who hit the wrong "targets" when using their guns.
