Doug McIntyre: Not buying L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as anti-debt champion

`The Campaign to Fix the Debt" is a creation of former Republican Sen. Alan Simpson and his budget-balancing partner, former Clinton administration department head, Erskine Bowles, co-chairs of the much-ballyhooed "National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform."

Simpson-Bowles might not have saved the taxpayers so much as one thin dime but they did create a rare moment of Washington bipartisanship when Democrats and Republicans agreed to ignore everything they recommended. But Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles aren't quitters.

They continue the noble fight to return fiscal sanity to a federal budget plunging toward the precipice of the dreaded Fiscal Cliff.

To aid them in this fight "The Campaign to Fix the Debt" has recruited experts in the fields of government, business and finance, including Maya MacGuineas of the Brookings Institution, David Cote, chairman of Honeywell, James B. Lee Jr., vice chairman of JP Morgan Chase, Robert Zoellick, former president of the World Bank, and L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

That's not a typo. L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. According to FixTheDebt.org, "Mayor Villaraigosa is an important national voice for bringing people together to tackle the nation's debt."

I wonder if anyone at FixTheDebt.org even bothered to Google the phrase, "Deficit and Los Angeles" or "L.A. is Broke" before drafting Tony V to "tackle the nation's debt?" If they had, they'd quickly learn the only place they'd find worse tackling would be a tape of the USC/Oregon game.

"Today, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa joined the Campaign to Fix the Debt Steering Committee," the press release said.

I checked the date assuming the "today" had to be April Fool's Day, but there it was in 12-point type, "December 4th 2012." They're serious!

Even the most superficial background check would have uncovered ample evidence of Villaraigosa's singular lack of qualifications to be on anyone's debt fighting task force.

Consider this gem from April 7 of this year: "We're always in crisis mode," City Administrative Officer Miguel Santana told the L.A. Times. "We're facing the complete devastation of city services, including public safety."

Or the Daily News' own coverage showing the city budget hemorrhaging $400 million in red ink in just the first quarter of the fiscal year, with the deficit projected to balloon past the $1.7 billion mark over the next five years.

Yet Antonio Villaraigosa is the guy they pick to serve on the "National Debt Reduction Steering Committee?" Who turned them down, Francesco Schettino, the captain of the Costa Concordia?

But it's not just Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles who have failed to do due diligence on Mayor Failure's actual record. Villaraigosa has become the unvetted expert on practically everything at MSNBC and appears so often on CNN I'm beginning to believe he bunks with Wolf Blitzer.

Recently CNN's Ashleigh Banfield picked Villaraigosa's brain for solutions to the fiscal cliff crisis as if there's anything in there to pick. Not once did Ms. Banfield bring up L.A.'s budget woes. Instead she lapped up the mayor's platitudes as if she were talking to Adam Smith or Alexander Hamilton.

The re-branding of Antonio Villaraigosa from failure to statesman began when President Barack Obama picked him to spearhead his 2012 campaign's Hispanic outreach. Handed the giant gavel at the Democratic Convention in North Carolina, Tony V is in the process of getting his ticket punched for a cabinet post far, far away from the broken sidewalks on your block and the broken budgets he has left behind for his successor. Maybe he can fool the fools in Washington and buffalo the lazy airheads in cable news studios in New York and Atlanta, but he can't fool us. We've lived it.

We're not buying what Antonio is selling because he's still selling what he's always been selling, Antonio Villaraigosa.

Adelita is all up in arms about Raza Studies getting tossed via the AZ state legislature's action...she is the daughter of Raul Grijalva (D-AZ-7) who was just narrowly re-elected to our US Congress. Cong Raul Grijalva is one of Mexico’s most productive and loyal Fifth Column in the US Congress....aiding and abetting the latino criminal underworld, colluding to take back the SW, and loot and pillage the US treasury.

All attempts to lift the veil of latino criminality is met with cries of foul. But that should not be a deterrent.

"American Greed," the excellent CNBC cable series, showcased the nefarious activitues of Cali's "Financial Plus" in which two Mexicans targeted latino immigrants in a fake investment scam to "invest home equity" via the then-booming Cali real estate cycle.

The father/son Mexican shysters bribed and colluded with a latino BofA insider----Donny Gonzales---to falsify bank documents. Father and son shysters---Juan and Harold Rangel---- ran Spanish language ads--and got $35 million from about 500 latino homeowners----hamburger flippers, lawn mowers, and such, who cannot even speak English. One latino woman had $200,000 to invest (that she lost to the Mexican shysters).

(Snix) Where do these "impoverished" latinos get all this money to invest?

The answer is they, too, are scamming---they are scamming the US govt and stealing from taxpayers. American taxpayers working for a living are slaving to pay taxes and household expenses----but the latino criminal underworld is well-organized---theur henchmen are pouring over the border to rig the system for themselves---riding the US gravy train under multiple fraudulent identities. And jerks like Obama are aiding and abetting these frauds.

Cackle---I guess Villaraigosa did not know about this scam.
