Ann Clwyd, a Labour MP since 1984, has said her biggest regret is that she didn't "stand in the hospital corridor and scream" in protest at the "almost callous lack of care" with which nurses treated her husband as he lay dying in the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

One day, an America with a parasitic majority will hail the Dear Leader's Affordable Care Act as this country's greatest achievement. It will probably be just as efficient as the NHS.
I have significant bitterness about all those in the US who voted for The One and celebrated as they watched the Democrats push this legislation down the throats of the rest of us. Ultimately, they will take no responsibility for the decline in American health care that will inevitably happen, and many will be amongst the loudest complainers when they don’t get the kind of care they want.
I share your bitterness.
Hopefully, in the near future, interactive diagnostic computers, low cost test instruments, and robotic surgery can rip health care from the hands of unionized government employees and deliver it to individuals and families.
Personally, I think that health care in most of our hospitals has deteriorated to nearly this level. I have several very recent examples to support that theory.
However, more to the point of this story...this woman left her husband alone in the hospital for two weeks. Ostensibly, she became ill herself so stayed away; but for TWO WEEKS?! Whatever happened, and I will concede that the conditions were terrible and the staff uncaring, she was absent to say the least. This article doesnt tell the entire story...heres one with more details.
We do ourselves NO FAVORS by pretending that our system is wonderful and flawless. Frankly, most of our hospitals are wildly understaffed biological hazard zones. The surgeons and specialists are top-notch...you just have to hope you survive the awful post-op care long enough to flee the place.
In the event that you are not well enough to flee, you had better hope that you have a 24/7 advocate there with you or you will be treated in a similar fashion to the unfortunate patient in this article.
Of course, it will only get worse...and that is truly frightening.
To be honest, socialized healthcare may be ugly but all these people still has an option. UK, Canada, France, even Ukraine and Russia has finest private clinics as well.
Nice to see that at least their Politicians are subject to the same care as the unwashed Masses, not like here where Our royalty get the best and we get Obamacare
Agree. I do think that Leftists should have to bear the brunt of the disaster they have created by handing over the finest healthcare system in the world to the Democrats. Yes, it WAS the finest health care system. I am a laboratory worker. Right now my laboratory is being forced into compliance with International Standards to remain competitive. Can anyone say ONE WORLD? RIP American Medicine. You WERE the best!
Coming soon to a hospital near you after 2013.
That is if you can find a doctor who will admit you.
You have to remember: Paying customers last...welfare customers first.
My neighbor is a radiologist. He works at home and is on duty from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am reading x-rays and CAT scans he accesses from his home computer. He used to work at the hospital.
Does remote interpretation of scans and xrays enhance medical care?
Actually, I’m surprised he even has a job. If he can do it from his home there is no reason the hospital can’t contract out the work to India for 25% of his fee.
Will they take responsibility? I had a correspondant in UK with health needs that were denied in a cruel way.She became an activist. When she reached the point of group emails blaming the U.S. and greedy insurance companies, I ended all contact. She blamed privatization. Those who think that Progressives will EVER, EVER come to their senses or accept blame or see the flaws in their reasoning, may be disappointed. If they were teachable, the USSR experiment should have taught them something.
Let’s stop calling them ‘Progressives’. They are anything but. Continuing to think that Marx was anything more than a lazy parasite who lived off of other people’s money and came up with a lame political view based on envy and resentment is just plain stupid, not progressive. Further, continuing to believe that socialism/communism is a viable economic model, while ignoring the reality of the USSR, the economic collapse of socialist Europe, and the fact that China has prospered only after turning to a capitalist economic model, is not ‘progressive’. It is, again, just plain stupid.
Unlike Canada, where private health care is prohibited, in the UK, anybody of means can still get a private doctor and stay in a private hospital.
So what this Labour MP was complaining about was that the “free stuff” she wanted was worth exactly what she paid for it. If you want free, low quality is part of the deal. And in the case of health care, low quality equals death.
And the NHS has proven itself to be a highly efficient meat grinder when it comes to cheaply killing people. It has the whole Soylent Green euthanasia chamber down pat, but not with the beautiful imagery and the Pastoral Symphony; but with gray walls, harsh noises, and sullen people, while lying in your own filth.
Labour is not in power right now.
So it is ok to talk bad about the NHS...
Because the other side can take the blame...
