Add to that Mitt Romney's own left-wing, progressive record as Governor and both before his governorship and after it, a record that would make even a Rockefellar, blue-blood, country club Republican blush, and there should be no doubt as to why we lost.
Right on point, yet I and many other conservative patriots on this website were shouted down and endlessly castigated for speaking those plain and obvious truths.
Some still want to blame rank and file voters for failing to get out and vote for Romney, but I reject that misplaced blame. The fault for Romney's loss lies with him. He failed to rally the base because he didn't (and couldn't) represent those qualities and values that were absolutely essential in a successful challenger to The Marxist.
I don't feel that he was worse than Obama, but what the country needed at this time was a hard-nosed patriot in the mold of the Framers, not a milquetoast, nice guy, moderate, Democrat-Lite, in the mold of GHWB, Dole, or McCain.
The Republican establishment pushed their golden RINO to the top, and many of our people yawned. Again. That's what happened in the last election.
It’s more than that. My 77 year old father, for example, thinks “religion should be out of politics.” It’s ridiculous, given his financial background and I was absolutely shocked that he would vote for O because of this given all the bad stuff that’s coming down the pike with this bozo in office. Also my well-educated and recently employed college aged son didn’t vote because he thinks the gay marriage issue shouldn’t be in the party plank. He, BTW went to a Christian school his entire life. THIS trumps the economic consequences he will definitely suffer as a result? Also, all the “super conservatives” who sat out the election and got us a way more horrible result are to blame, IMHO.
