Half of America: I'd kill to protect my own

Survey reveals stunning attitudes about surviving in catastrophe

Editor’s note: This is another in a series of “WND/WENZEL POLLS” conducted exclusively for WND by the public-opinion research and media consulting company Wenzel Strategies.

Nearly half of Americans would expect serious, sustained life-threatening civil unrest within two weeks of a major catastrophe, such as an EMP attack that would destroy electronics, according to a new poll.

Another huge percentage say they would expect further deterioration after two weeks, but for many, that development would be irrelevant, because they expect they would be dead by then.

The sobering the new poll by Wenzel Strategies, a public-opinion research and media consulting company, also shows a stunning number of Americans say they would be willing to kill a neighbor under such circumstances.

The poll, conducted Nov. 28-Dec. 3 with a margin of error of 3.14 percentage points, showed 58 percent of Americans would be somewhat or very willing to kill someone if a member of their family was threatened with attack during an emergency.

But that would be because 50 percent expect that within two weeks of a catastrophic emergency, their home, person or family member would be physically attacked by someone desperate for food, money or commodities like gasoline.

Remarkably, 21 percent said they would survive without services provided by electronic power less than a week and another 28 percent believed they could last less than two weeks. Three in four Americans say they would be dead in two months.

Read the facts about the real threat to the U.S., in “A Nation Forsaken – EMP: The Escalating Threat of an American Catastrophe.”

Fritz Wenzel, president of Wenzel Strategies, told WND: “Our survey shows that, in the face of this reality,

Thanks for calling me “Darlin’”. That's what my husband would call me and it sounded just like that, leaving the “g” off. He had a bass voice and would get down in that bass when he said that.

You said, “And they will find you. And they will take whatever you have. Because to them it’s still free sh!t.”

No, they won't find me, but if they did, they would be dead and I sincerely mean that. I have means to be alerted if anyone nears my townhouse and there is only one way in and one way out and they will never get inside and I sincerely mean that. I am a real bitch of destruction if anyone tries to get in here.

Sweetie, you and I are on the same page in so many ways. Happily or unhappily, you have none but yourself to deal with or rely on. I have The Tribe, and all those lives and mouths who willingly (or unwillingly in one case) listen to whatever sage wisdom I can muster.

Just one quibble with a quote of yours:

They would eat every bit of food in their house and if water was off, they would take water out of the storage tank of potties and out of the hot water heater.

If we take this article's survey at face value, less than 1 in 8 of those who even bothered to take the survey, even admit to prepping. Personally, I think the number is even less when taken against the entire population. So, do you really think those neighbors of yours have the common sense God gave a shovel, to use the toilet tank/water heater as an emergency water source?

Here, I would say yes because we get every hurricane that comes through Galveston. Houston TV stations start telling people in early spring about how to find water in their houses. My area is upper middle class so I think they would use those sources. This is also a big church town. Most people here are going to be unwilling zombies but three days after no water, you and I know what happens. It's water or die - that turns one into a zombie seeking water, not brains to eat as zombies usually do.

We can ruminate about what will happen, using our knowledge of people, but if we are faced with collapse, we will have to be on guard from the beginning of it. My safety measures will be activated to the max, then I'll be ready for whatever happens and I take no prisoners.

To my knowledge, there are no preppers anywhere close to me but that may be because I don't tell anyone I am one. To everyone, I'm just a little old widowed lady who mostly stays in her house and they don't know anything about me. One banker lady across the street from me, knows my name and we have talked, have a good relationship, but she doesn't know I am a dreaded prepper. My preps aren't out in sight so even if someone came in, they wouldn't see them.

I hope I only have hurricanes to deal with and that you don't have anything happen in your area.
