Assad has chemical weapons: Obama and the U.N. vow tough inaction

Eric Golub

LOS ANGELES, December 10, 2012 ― For every innocent Syrian killed, there is a world organization with bloodied Syrian bodies on its filthy hands.

That useless, ineffectual bastion of anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism known as the United Nations has decided to stop doing nothing and start looking busy.

Recent reports say that Syrian strongman Bashar Assad is moving and preparing chemical weapons, which suggests that he is willing to kill his own people in order to maintain his weakening grip on power. This guy is as dangerous and crazy as Occupy Wall Streeters. Although he is less organized than they are, they are not threatening to murder thousands with Sarin gas.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has decided to look like they have the ability and inclination to prevent genocide anywhere.

President Obama took a brave stand by curling up in a fetal position and sticking to what he knows, which is community organizing. Mr. Obama called the situation “unacceptable.” This is code for an involuntary reflexive muscle gesture known as shoulder shrugging.

Those determined to declare Mr. Obama right about everything spouted gibberish for four years about how a tough stand by America would endanger Americans in Syria. First of all, what the heck are Americans doing in Syria? Was Cancun out of hotel rooms? The day after Benghazi, every diplomat in the Middle East should have abandoned their posts knowing they would not be protected.

Yet if Mr. Obama represents individual inertia, the U.N. is an entire club of plutocrats who long ago confined their activities to shopping in Manhattan and sexually assaulting hotel workers...

Wonder where Syria got the chemical weapons. Just days before coalition forces liberated Iraq, a large number of truck convoys were spotted leaving Iraq for the Syrian border.

Yep.

Will Saddam’s WMDs Fall into the Hands of Al Qaeda?

I know I saw that video in night vision of the convoys leaving Iraq. The communist main stream media pounced on Bush saying Iraq didn’t have WMDs and, of course, the stupid part of the country believed it. It was there all the time. Sickening.

For once I am for inaction.

In the first place we do not know who has control of chemical weapons, Assad or the Rebels.

In the second place if Assad uses these weapons he is using then against the Muslm Brotherhood. Is that bad?

Obama got the ball rolling on this mess , now it has gone past his control. Now he wants to keep his hands clean. Let the Syrians figure this out themselves.

Colonel-General Vladmir K. Pikalov, chief of the Soviet Union’s Chemical Troops, visits Syria and holds meetings with the defense minister, the commander in chief, and the deputy chief of staff of the Syrian armed forces. The purpose of the visit is reportedly to express the USSR’s displeasure over the Syrian pursuit of chemical weapons in the wake of controversy generated by the Halabja incident in Iraq. —Gordon M. A U.S. Special National Intelligence Estimate (SNIE) asserts that Syria is “a major recipient of Soviet CW assistance, [and] probably has the most advanced chemical warfare capability in the Arab world, with the possible exception of Egypt. Both Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union provided the chemical agents, delivery systems, and training that flowed to Syria. As long as this support is forthcoming, there is no need for Syria to develop an indigenous capability to produce CW agents or materiel, and none has been identified.” Note: This intelligence assessment is potentially at odds with later assessments that Syria obtained its initial CW capability through Egypt. Additionally it should be noted that there is no direct reference to the size of the Syrian CW arsenal although the clear implication is that it is not insignificant. —Implications of Soviet Use of Chemical and Toxin Weapons for US Security Interests, SNIE 11-17-83, Central Intelligence Agency, 15 September 1983, p. 11, www.foia.cia.gov; Don Oberdorfer, “Chemical arms curbs are sought,” Washington Post, 9 September, 1985, pp. A1, 6; Gordon M. Generally, any action by the US in Syria will be to support the MB. If it requires a pretext - for example, chemical weapons... then so be it. Does not really matter the details of its use, who uses it, how much it is used. The point is, that the Øregime if/when it needs the pretext, will amplify whatever whiff of a use (or even non-use) to justify it.

The REAL agenda is to whip Israel. The way politics are, even post-election, the Øregime *STILL* can only fight Israel by proxy. So, Proxy it will be...

I believe you are pretty close to having the correct analogy.

It’s funny how Bush was blamed so vociferously for making excuses to go into Iraq, but of course no outcry when Obama is getting ready to have the US fight for his Muslim Brotherhood compadre’s.

Actually another source was back in December of 2002, just before we jumped off on Iraq...

Three chemical Parcel tankers left Basra, and headed out of the gulf “hull down” (meaning loaded) with...”something”...

This was released to the media at the time, and then those ships vanished, or were not tracked, or reported on ever again...

I had a bet with my dad that these ships went directly to Syria with some pretty nasty stuff...

And now we are paying the price for the lack of action on those ships...

If anyone wants to know why I believe this to be a credible source for the Syrian regime’s “new” found capability, I offer my time I spent in the Persian Gulf observing and analysing data on shipping through that region, and that after my time in the Navy, I worked for Stolt Parcel Tankers...

I believe those ships were the perfect, and secure method of transport and transfer of chemical weapon materials...

I am not surprised that the Syrian government and Assad are rattling this sabre at this time...

Bingo...

I had had a link to the pictures of those ships (tankers) leaving the channel off of the Fau penninsula in December 2002...But the link eventually died, and the info I had bookmarked was gone...I didn’t know how to save the data beyond the bookmarking at that time in my internet career...;-)

Why we didn’t intercept (interdict) those ships is beyond me, but hindsight is 20/20, and those who may have had better intel at the time probably thought it was better to just keep tabs on them better than turning those ships into a hazard to navigation (in some deep water of course)...

But politics probably got in the way and by the time you could have done something about it, passed without action in any shape or form...

Now we have this issue...And we have an NCA which is a proven, non-actionable, authority running the circus now...

Amazing how this countries “international” credibility has been decimated in such a short period of time...By just one person...
