"If I had my choice to spend a day at Wright-Pat or the Smithsonian Air and Space, Id take Wright-Pat." You had better plan on spending more than one day if you really want to take it in, however if you just want to see the exhibits, then you may be able to get to them all in a single day. Just don't plan on reading any of the historical information at each exhibit. it really does take two days (or more) to take it all in.

I know that the AFM is the subject here, but to take in the full experience, you also have to visit Carillon Park which is the home of the Wright B Flyer as well as a Metric Ton of other history.

The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum out at Dulles airport (40 miles outside DC) is also excellent. Far better than what I remember to be at the location in downtown DC.
At the Dulles location they have the Enola Gay and a number of WWI and WWII planes of significant historical value. Definitely worth the trip. It is free but parking will cost you $15 a car.
Again though, if I could only go to one, I’d choose Wright-Pat.

Tuesday Morning Coffee Bump.
Yep, my brother and his family arrived Saturday. They went up to the city to visit my sister and her family on Sunday and then came back down yesterday.
They're staying today and then heading back to Texas tomorrow.
I took my mower up to the lawnmower place yesterday for annual maintenance. They're looking at the propeller to see how much it would cost to repair it.
Good sleeping weather. It got down into the upper teens last night.

I grew up out in the country under one of the flight paths that led to Wright-Pat. The flew and tested some weird looking a/c during the 50s & 60s. I saw a lot of really freaky stuff in the night sky during my time.
Also...PROJECT BLUEBOOK (a coverup) was based out of Wright-Pat. When Area 51 was sanitized ALL of the "questionable" material from Rosswell was moved to a very large, and secured, hangar at W-P.
Many rumors that the UFO craft is/are there.

Are you ready for the Tuesday
Road Trip?
Good morning, Everyone.
Good morning to our
military, our allies, and their families
Thank you, Lauren, for preparing the Canteen for todays activities.
DC Metroland Weather
~ Today...A few sprinkles possible early.
Cloudy skies early,
followed by partial clearing.
High 53F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.
~ Tonight...Mostly cloudy skies.
Low 36F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.
Woke up to a cold, rainy morning.
I believe I told youz guyz out west
not to send the cold. Didn't I?
Don't mind the rain but unlike Ma I don't like the cold.
Well, I'm hoping to be around more today.
Got the reports done and only need to update one more.
But, if I suddenly disappear (which seems to be the norm)
you'll know I got pulled away by work.
Please stay.
Grab a cup of joe or tasty tea.
The FR Canteen is ALWAYS
Come on in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea,
pancakes,
conversation,
silliness,
and plain old BS
