George Will: 'Quite literally, opposition to gay marriage is dying'
Queerty and UPI Blog ^ | 12/10/12 | Kate Stanton

When pundits on ABC's "This Week" Sunday discussed recent news that the Supreme Court would take up two major gay marriage cases -- challenges to the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California's Prop 8 -- conservative commentator George Will issued a blunt characterization of same-sex marriage's opponents.

There is something like an emerging consensus. Quite literally, the opposition to gay marriage is dying. It’s old people.

According to a Politico poll out Sunday, Will is right in saying that older Americans are less likely to support gay marriage. The poll said that while 63 percent of 18 to 29 year-old supported same-sex marriage, only three in 10 seniors support it.

Here's Will's remarks on the subject in full, via Queerty:

This decision by the Supreme Court came 31 days after an Election Day in which three states for the first time endorsed same-sex marriage at the ballot box —never happened before—Maine, Maryland, and the state of Washington.

Now, the question is, how will that influence the court? It could make them say it’s not necessary for us to go here. They don’t want to do what they did with abortion. The country was having a constructive accommodation on abortion, liberalizing abortion laws. The court yanked the subject out of democratic discourse and embittered the argument. They may say we don’t want to do that, we can just let the democracy take care of this.

On the other hand, they could say it’s now safe to look at this because there is something like an emerging consensus. Quite literally, the opposition to gay marriage is dying. It’s old people.

Republican strategist Mary Matalin added that unmarried heterosexuals with babies are "irrefutably more problematic for our culture than homosexuals getting married."

With the Atheistic communists in charge of our public school system, and parents willing to send their children into these dens of inequity, ... It was only a matter of time.

And I should add, with the television sewage lines that people plumb into their households - with almost every TV show extolling the virtues of sodomy - that has not been a great help either... Filth breeds disease and corruption. Not a big surprise.

My first thought was so is our nation. Those fools don’t realize how good they have it, and insist on messing things up. Some bad days are on the horizon.

What does the comparison of unmarried hetero parents to gay married couples, have to do with anything?

Drug families of heteros are more of a problem than gay married couples. So?

The churches ought to get together and not perform marriages any longer. Let the JPs do that. Have a special Marriage Rites with the full blown wedding rituals but only available to man-woman weddings. When the queers get wind of the Marriage Rites, let them spend millions of dollars and years to get it through the courts to allow them to have Marriage Rites. Then the churches can get together and not perform Marriage Rites any longer, just Rites of Marriage for man-woman couples.......

George Will....he can bore you to tears with trivia about baseball, but he has no idea of the connection between social and financial conservatism. His arteries are hardening.

When the queers get wind of the Marriage Rites, let them spend millions of dollars and years to get it through the courts to allow them to have Marriage Rites.

They won't even care unless there are financial benefits involved. They wouldn't give a fig about legal marriage today if it hadn't been given away to government by the churches decades ago in exchange for a tax break. Once marriage became a vehicle for government and corporate benefit distribution, it was inevitable that everyone would want in.

Will is getting old and funky and slow witted. The polls don't work anymore. PEW says pollsters typically get barely a 9% response rate. That's such a low number that if homosexuals simply bother responding 100% of the time, they amplify their opinion 11X.

That's why polls show support for gay marriage and referenda show no support for gay marriage.

This poll separating older people from younger people does little more than support the idea that polls can't be trusted anymore. Of course older people oppose gay marriage ~ but due to their remarkably shorter lifespans, there are no old gays to distort that answer. However, with most gays being quite young, they probably cast much more than an 11X shadow ~ possibly 15X!

The Supreme Court might tell us biological pair bonding is not a good guide to the ordering of society, but what do they know.

You are quite wrong about that. What they crave, more than anything else, is acceptance. Insofar as organizations exist that reject the premise that Gay is ok, they will attack them and try to bring them down.

Ok Mr Propoganda George Will.

FYI, my gay brother, who married his gay partner, is dead from AIDS.

My dead gay brother’s twin brother also has recently contracted AIDS and is in treatment and is going to die early from homosexual behavior.

The only gift of homosexuality and gay marriage in my family is illness and early death from AIDS, for my two younger brothers.

Well, that is not counting the homo gay marriage thing wrecking my church, which has not been too nifty.

American media made gay ok. It is not, however, what God intended. Homosexuality brings pain, illness, death, and abomination.

George Will once said the opposition to abortion was dying — and he was wrong. Support for gay marriage is just a reflection of the success of propaganda. Nothing more. Nothing less.

“a great awakening is needed.”

Amen. We could use a modern day Jonathan Edwards with his famous sermon, “Sinners in the hands of an angry God.”

http://www.ccel.org/ccel/edwards/sermons.sinners.html

However, today there is no “fear of God” anymore. People ONLY want to hear about that “God is Love”...which He is, but He is also “wrath” for the unbelieving. Christians do no one a favor to gloss over this “unconvenient truth.”

No one ever accused Mary of being the brightest bulb on the tree, that’s for sure.

Amen! However, I do grieve with you for those lost in your family. Both temporarily and eternally. Truly a sad story you have to tell.

It won’t be long and the opposition, if there is any, to ‘marriage’ between man and beast will be erased.
