No explanation provided by the pollsters as to why opposition is so strongly pronounced when the issue is presented to the voters. The results of the various referenda questions has been lopsidedly in favor of traditional marriage.

That was true until this election, where traditional marriage took a beating.

Gay marriage was legalized by voters in Maine, Maryland, and Washington. Minnesota failed to pass an amendment to define marriage as being between a man and a woman. Were there any victories for traditional marriage?
