That has left the GOP very badly discredited.

Democrats used that as well to define and discredit Republicans. Despite the fact that they, Democrats, do the same thing.
I would love to have those manufacturing jobs back in the US, but I am not in favor of merchantilism. I just ordered a pair of US made wolverine wingtip boots for $330. My sister, a woman, thinks that is too much for shoes.
There are two problems:
1. People who do not have the skills to do the jobs.
2. Consumers are unwilling to pay premium for high cost products.
They’ve also been outsourcing jobs here at home, by bringing in foreign nationals.
Texas is a great example of that practice. The Texas Democrats want to expand the number of Democrat voters and the Republicans want to exploit cheap illegal workers. Together they have created Hell for the this nation with millions of illegal aliens invading our nation.
Now before Texans get all uppity, it is also happening in California, Arizona, and New Mexico, but no nearly to the extent it has occurred in Texas.
