Marriage is recognized from state to state, including common-law marriage, even in states in which it isn’t legal, the homosexual thing is confusing that but only temporarily, in the end, we all know that gay marriages will come to be accepted, even in states that won’t perform them.
If you think that a 50 state quilt of marriage definitions will exist, think again.
Wishing that marriages will only exist locally, is a pipe dream because people move, and travel, even die and get ill in other states.
“...will come to be accepted...”
If they can be legislated into widespread acceptance, can’t they be legislated into being performed, under penalty-of-law? That intrudes into the 1st Amendment area, bigtime. Are you saying that the USCon/BoR will be overridden by then?
I don’t have a problem with homo/lesbo civil unions, but *marriage* is another matter. ‘Course, I’ll be dead & gone by the time that all happens.
