With Michigan teachers unions outraged over the states new right-to-work law that allows teachers to work without joining the union, the states current teachers are preparing to close down schools in protest. To recap: unions are bankrupting Michigan schools and shutting them down as the localities run out of money. To stop that, Michiganders passed a right-to-work law. Now, in protest of that right-to-work law, unions want to shut down schools.

Shut em down. The kids will be better off.
Might as well, the kids are not learning anything anyway.
This is just one more reason to end public employee unions, & a damn good one, IMO.
More tolerance from the legalized extortion racket.
Fire them all.
They make it sound like that would be some kind of very bad thing;)
If you really want to see some improvement, they ought to shut down a few COLLEGES!;)
Damned right. If these government workers union goons don’t want the jobs, there are plenty of qualified free people waiting to take them.
Gov. Snyder has signed legislation to expand charter schools in MI.
And they are building them here, from brick and mortar on up.
“Teachers” these days could really shive a git about “the churldren”. To those lazy bastards, it’s all about money and the union. They all need to be fired.
If the people who would do this were those in charge of teaching those children with the schools in session, then it is best they are shut down and should remain shut down as long as these ‘teachers’ are on the payroll.
Scott Walker didn’t have the gonads to do it and this Michigan governor won’t either...but I’d fire any teacher not showing up for work to protest.
Period.
Let them sue and then bankrupt them in court.
I wonder if they could be fired like Reagan did to the air traffic controllers...depends on the contract I guess, but if its in there the governor should fire them all...
If they were learning nothing that would ne an improvement - unfortunately they’re being dumbed down and brainwashed.
“I wonder if they could be fired like Reagan did to the air traffic controllers.”
That was a challenge, but the country came through, MUCH BETTER because of President Reagan. He had to staff the towers, and all he had handy were non-strikers and the military controllers (who were needed at their bases also). But he did it. At the time, I lived in part of the “strike-belt”, later known as the “rust-belt”, and I remember the strikes very well. But once Reagan stood up to them, the strikes largely ended - they didn’t have to end, since PATCO was a public union and had nothing in common with the UAW, but somehow that was a turning point.
So the strikes, essentially, ended right then (or at least dropped by 90%), but the damage from the unions was far from over...as we have seen in the beautiful cities in China - whose people now buy nearly twice as many new cars as bought in the US each year.
There are AT LEAST 10,000,000 well-educated, retired, Americans, who could easily teach in our classrooms. THESE PEOPLE ARE REPLACEABLE and need to be replaced, when they act like this. Let’s get to work on it.
Reagan gave all the unions something to think about because they all had non strike clause’s like Patco. Thats why I was wondering if teachers contracts have no strike clauses..I remember also prior to his firing Patco, every year teachers across the country went on strike...That came to a stop real fast....All it takes is a president with backbone and he hated communists... I also live in the rust belt...GG
