A gunman retreated from a Casper nail salon last week after realizing one of its customers was packing heat.
Police say about 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, a man walked into Modern Nails at 2645 E. Second St. and asked a female employee if she wanted to buy some diamonds. The man walked toward the front desk area and the woman replied that she had no money to buy diamonds.
A witness said the man then reached into his coat pocket and began to take out a silver-colored pistol.
At that moment, a woman who was getting her nails done reached into her purse and got her own firearm. Police say the man never fully raised the gun and left the building after seeing the customer had her weapon out.
The man is described as black, early 40s, more than 6-foot-4, about 250 pounds and very muscular. A witness said he was well-dressed and wearing light-colored slacks.

“reached into her purse” arrrgggg - there goes that manicure. I hope that they started over at no charge. I now get the shellac so my nails are dry when I leave but used to get fills and had to sit around and wait and remember to get my keys out before she started applying the polish etc.
Maybe he just left the tanning salon. You know, sometimes these types of buisnesses are next door to each other. /sarc/
I’m figuring they had not started the polish yet... simply because as we know.. she would have shot him in the eye if it smudged.
Ban nail salons? Then this crime would not have a starting place.
So true. We must not smudge. I’ve been going to the same woman now for over 25 years. She has promised to come to the funeral parlor and do my nails and my toes when I die. I asked her “toes”? She said absolutely. Even though they won’t show in the casket I’ll know.
He was walking out the door when she said he reminded her of her ex-husband. At that point he started running. When asked why she hadn’t shot, she replied that his crotch was facing the wrong direction.
Going through eternity without properly painted toe nails.. well, just not a good thing. LOL!
What few Democrats there are in the state are (a)confined to correctional and mental institutions or (b)several degrees to the right of your average New York Republican.
How many blacks in Wyoming? Should be easy to find.

I agree. Beauty is a much more serious occupation than college education! If only there had been a lady with nails to die for in the computer science class ... but wait, she'd have had to have a crossbow or a poison dart shooter in her purse, because the college is "gun-free."

Just FYI I read a follow-up story on the Casper murders, an article featuring an “eyewitness account” from a young lady who was in the class.
She said the murderer burst in, shot his father with the bow, and the class of (only) six students rushed for the door.
She was in her 20s, if I recall, and she ran down the hall to a restroom where she waited in a stall until a policeman found her there.
The class of six people possibly helps explain the lack of decent, courageous responders: you have a very small sample to draw from.
But the young lady’s response underscores everything you and I have been talking about: go and hide and wait for (government) help.
That’s just astounding. Hid in the bathroom ... presumably forever, if nobody had gone and found her. They could have gone to the next classroom and rounded up some help; maybe it would have been “How to type, very slowly” and full of football players ;-).
We’ve been talking about these issues in our homeschool association “Hobbit Club” this fall. We’ve been reading the book, doing projects, and this weekend we’re going to the movie. The oldest participants are about 14 years old, and the youngest are 6, and all of them instinctively recognize that in a crisis, you’ve got to be a man and not a mouse, as it were, or you’re a FAIL human being. They want to be heroic, if only so they can tell everyone about it afterward.
People like the young woman in the interview have all the wrong programming. Didn’t they grow up watching John Wayne movies? How did such a person reach adulthood in Wyoming?
