BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A resident shot an alleged robber Tuesday morning in east Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

The resident heard someone remove a screen and break a kitchen window to gain access to his home, so the resident armed himself with a handgun, the sheriff's office said.

The suspect and resident came face to face in the hallway of the East Brundage Lane home, and the resident shot the suspect at least twice in the upper body.

The alleged intruder, 26-year-old Arturo Jose Luis Estrada, got out of the house and stumbled about a half block down the sidewalk before collapsing. That's where deputies found him.

How about taking away most of Al Gore's $100M he made in four years after he left office? How about taking most of Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid's fortune they made in office? What about taxing Obama’s or the Kennedy fortune that have been moved off shore. What a bunch of hipocrits.

Had this occurred in San Diego, the police would have finished him off...

On the video here, the Aunt of the shooter said that neighbors believed that burglars had been casing the neighborhood for a while, for example knocking on doors to see if anyone was home.

Burglars and burglary gangs are getting more organized about it, using techniques like hang up phone calls to see if someone answers. Unlike home invader type armed robbers, burglars typically want easy targets and quick snatch and grabs.

And finally, in the South and West, it is the season for the Williamsons and other fraud gangs to be out and about looking to steal from older people for the most part.
