I am now convinced that Boehner should just put up S 3412, allow the vote and all Republicans should vote present, go home for the holidays and forget about it. They didn’t want to legislate anything prior to Nov 21, 2011 and we are gonna get screwed either way.
Don’t give them their absolution. No Republican votes tied to this. Put S 3412 on the floor for a vote and go home.
In terms of contract negotiations, Boehner should put forth a “last, best, and final offer.” If Obama rejects it, Boehner should adjourn the House and send everyone home for the holidays. And let Republicans take first class plane flights. Democrats can car pool, take the bus, take a train, or hitch hike.
