Marijuana Not High Obama Priority
ABC News ^ | December 14, 2012 | Devin Dwyer

Posted on 12/14/2012 6:49:59 AM PST by John W

President Obama says recreational users of marijuana in states that have legalized the substance should not be a "top priority" of federal law enforcement officials prosecuting the war on drugs.

"We've got bigger fish to fry," Obama said of pot users in Colorado and Washington during an exclusive interview with ABC News' Barbara Walters.

"It would not make sense for us to see a top priority as going after recreational users in states that have determined that it's legal," he said, invoking the same approach taken toward users of medicinal marijuana in 18 states where it's legal.

More of Barbara Walters' exclusive first joint, post-election interview with President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama airs tonight on "20/20" at 10 p.m. ET on ABC stations.

Yea. I can see how MJ users and child porno wack-os are just the same.
Yea, I can how see you can equate something one does to ones self as the same as doing something (or participating in) to a child.
((eye roll))

Dirty little secret: Obama has cracked down on the states with medical MJ harder than any privious Republican President. Especially the growers.

Hey. I’m just using libertarian logic here. Sorry if you don’t understand it.

But I’m not taking about raping a child (participating as you called it). I’m talking about downloading it and watching it. Its legal in Japan.

So. If smoking a joint in the privacy of your own home is OK, then so is watching some boy getting Sandusky’d.

Always follow the money.

Just how big do you think the bribes are from the cartels to the various pols, law enforcement officials, and judges?

I would guess the total is at least billions per year.

I don’t really know how many stoners there are since I “graduated” from that demographic a long time ago. But when I saw a clip from a quiz show where the moderator asked “Name something you pass around” and the guy said “a joint”, well....pretty telling.

Obama wants government regulation, medical and recreational. And I am willing to wager he will get it during these dreadful next four years.

Ironicly, I know something about this. I work 60 hours a week, havent had a vacation in years and I smoke regularly. Not a lazy loafer by any means. That said, I travel at least twice a year by plane for work and my luggage is searched EVERY SINGLE TIME. I always carry a small amount and they never take it.
My guess is there is a dog that alerts on my luggage they check and if there isn’t a large quantity they close the luggage and move on. Only thing I can think of is the airlines would be pissed at the cops arresting someone for a couple grams of pot in stowed luggage. That person would never get on a plane again. I have had it even in the open in a baggie in luggage that was searched, nothing. Still have a smoke when I land. The gov. is slowly moving to a GAF position on this. And as one productive stoner, I welcome it.

He has the same states position as Sarah Palin.

And Palin has actually fried fish.

You either have some disturbing ideas of what constitutes "OK", some disturbing ideas about what constitutes civil discussion about disagreements over political philosophy, or just don't feel like being civil.

Still, here in Fairfax County VA we have over 100,000 resident attorneys. They need supplemental income. Your defense can provide what they need.

So, the dogs will be meeting you at the gate eh!

Obama’s probably right on this one . . . even a stopped clock is right twice a day. If the people of the states with legal recreational pot get sick of any associated problems then let them clean it up. I don’t smoke the wacky weed but personally I say let others smoke up if they want . . . just don’t ask me to bail you out of any problems that may be associated with use of the substance.

Umm...I would worry about Washington state, too.

Seattle is a very busy port...and a big link to Asia. You can ship a lot more pot on a super-cargo ship than an airplane

Seattle also has a busy airport that has more international flights than Denver, if I am not mistaken

Also, there is less regulation at our ports, which are pretty run and worked by the Communist Chinese and other foreigners

You are correct about the issues with Denver/Colorado....but Wash State would be just as problematic

What?

Do you think your analogy is possibly a little out of scale?
