Fox News Contributor Steven Crowder Files Criminal Complaint After Alleged Assault By Pro-Union Protester

Noah Rothman

Fox News commentator Steven Crowder has filed a complaint with the Michigan State Police in relation to an assault he sustained by a pro-union protester while attending a demonstration outside Michigan’s state capitol on December, 11. The protesters were demonstrating against the state legislature’s efforts to pass right to work laws in the heavily unionized state. Crowder joined the protests in support of those controversial laws.

The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple spoke with Richard Hale, the shift supervisor at the Lansing post of the Michigan State Police, who confirmed that Crowder has begun the process of filing a criminal complaint:

“By calling in, he’s in essence filed a complaint. He’s initiated the process for the filing of a criminal complaint,” Hale told Wemple.

Since the incident, Crowder says that he has legitimate fears for his safety as he is receiving disturbing threats on a regular basis.

Crowder recently tweeted that he has engaged the services of a former police officer to provide protective services for his wife. “Right now I have a former police officer, heavily armed at my house protecting my wife,” Crowder wrote. “The threats are severe. Prayers appreciated.”

Yep, at 49 seconds “He's got a gun” is what it sounded like to me.

A mob of RAT union thugs out of control is exactly right.

“Since when does the police anywhere require a complaint to be filed when they witness a mugging/assault in public?”

Welcome to the New Paradigm...
This involves violent liberal Democrat fascists. Therefore, it could not have possibly happened, since according to the mainstream media, only Tea-Partiers can be violent.

In our brave, new, world, 2+2=3.
If you don’t believe that, you must be CRAZY!, or a RASSISS!, or a ‘phobe, or even worse, AN EVIL CONSERVATIVE...

Was Rodney King’s beating alleged?

Evidently not.
But the drug induced mayhem that he inflicted prior to the video camera rolling certainly still is...

That second thug is almost ignored in press reports. This is one of the better reports that mentions him...

I think you make a very good point. If the second thug had managed to drag Crowder back into the crowd, the goon mob could have completely overpowered him and possibly killed him.

Then he would have been arrested and would find himself in the same position as Mr. Zimmerman does in Florida.

I never said that the use of firearms would have been appropriate as happened with Zimmerman. We have the right to defend ourselves when attacked. A response in kind would have been appropriate and since the incident was filmed, proof of self defense would have been a slam dunk.

Exactly, Crowder showed intelligent restraint. I have no doubt he could have cleaned Union Tony’s clock, but he sure as heck couldn’t take on all those lowlifes at once. No one could, that would be suicidal.

Hit the thug with a nice hefty civil suit, this’ll get his attention.

There’s video of the attack with the goon’s name on his jacket. Think the cops can find him?

Good for him. Union goons need to understand that war on their fellow citizens comes with a price...

Anybody got an extra horse head to fling in Big Tony’s yard? At the least he needs to experience the fear factor. The folks in his neighborhood should probably mark his house to keep their own from getting trashed. Even if he lives in a union thug neighborhood his neighbors aren’t gonna want the attention that Big Tony is liable to get.

IN the unlikely event that ever happened, MI taxpayers would probably be forced to pay for their bailout.

Crowder is a big boy. He could have kicked that thug’s ass if he had wanted to. I hope he sues the hell out of those bastards.

I am very very glad that he has apparently changed his initial thinking about this. I was rather upset when he said he had no real interest in filing charges.
