The Facebook page of the Hoboken man who has been identified in the national press as the shooter in the Newtown, Conn. school shootings has recent messages saying "It wasn't me."
Meanwhile, former Jersey Journal staff writer Brett Wilshe said he has spoken with Ryan Lanza of Hoboken, who told Wilshe the shooter may have had his identification.

“Read that parents are divorced, father lives in Hoboken, mother in Newtown, both parents dead and another brother. Who knows. The press is VERY unreliable. It’s about ratings and not accuracy.”
In a case like this, the press is limited to get correct information. They are reporting as they get it but the siutation is changing so it’s not their fault the info. isn’t totally reliable right now, so I reject it’s about ratings right now. This is a terrible thing and people want to know about it so reporters are doing the best they can - none of their reporting incorrectly is their fault.
From what you have read, maybe it is the father who was shot in that house. As I said, a reporter at the house said an ambulance took someone out of there but reporter didn’t know if the person was alive or dead or who it was.
Problem is, a lot of those facts disappear soon after the event.
Web pages of such perpetrators tend to get deleted or scrubbed fast. We’ve seen this several times.
That there is fog in war doesn’t mean you wait until it clears before acting.
So did they still catch a guy wearin camo and hiding in the woods or not?
I never believe early reports for any incident. Inevitably it’s all wrong. In this case, someone was BADLY maligned because of the media’s urgency to get a scoop regardless of accuracy.

The older brother was taken in cuffs, while the station pointed out that he hadn’t been arrested.

You weren’t the only one. One freeper was so certain it was true that he advised all when reported his find in other sites to attribute it Free Republic.
Fortunately for him, he is one of the few on FR if he asks his thread to be pulled...it gets pulled.
Just like the Aurora shooter. George Steponallofus comes to mind.
It looks like the father, earlier reported dead, is alive.
Now I'm not seeing reports of a deceased brother, either.
So what do we have? Shooter is Ryan Lanza. Oh. No, it isn't.
Shooter killed his father. Oh. No, he didn't.
Shooter killed his brother. Oh. No, he didn't.
Amazing how many things get misreported.
The misreporting by the press is just unforgivable. These people are absolute clowns.
