I hate that b*tch. Dislike her as much as Hilliary. Even Jimmy Carter’s wife didn’t say anything, same with Laura Bush and Barbara Bush. Nancy Reagan was vocal but stayed out of her husband’s political business though.
Of all our recent First Ladies, Babs Bush's background had the most gazoot -- she is an old Smithie and a bit of a snob. She complained once that Ron and Nancy had never invited her and George (41) up to the family quarters of the White House while the Reagans were in residence there; truth is, mutatis mutandis as Bill Buckley would say and the situation reversed, chances Barbara would have invited the Reagans up would have been slim and none, and I think Nancy knew it, was why.
Roz Carter was pretty steely in her way but, like Barbara, she has Southern manners and certainly knew how to keep up appearances and support her husband with her deportment. Nancy Reagan ditto, despite having come up from a very humble background via a Hollywood bit-part career as a starlet. She knew some people out in California who knew what style was, and she let them rub off on her, and used her knowledge to decorate her husband's and the People's household.
Laura Bush has the most class of all of them IMHO; she's a down-to-earth Texas girl, much like Roz was down-home Georgia long ago, and I love her to death. Laura Bush is the cat's whiskers and the bee's knees and just rock-solid down to the center of the earth -- just so you know. She reclaimed her man from Demon Rum: how much character and strength does that take? But the scoreboard doesn't lie: Laura Bush 1, Devil Rum 0. And you know that without her, Dubya would never have made it. And I bet he'll tell you that.
