After a whole lot of confusion, the NY Post, NY Times and other news outlets have now identified Adam Lanza as the suspect in the tragic shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut this morning. Altogether, at least 27 people were killed, including 20 children, when the 20-year-old Lanza allegedly walked into the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and opened fire.
NBC initially reported that a Ryan Lanza killed his father in Hoboken NJ this morning, then drove to Connecticut to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where his mother Nancy is a kindergarten teacher. It would be an understatement to say that there have been several conflicting reports about this timeline though: some reported that a body was found in a family home at 36 Yogananda Street in Newtown. CNN reported that Lanza's younger brother was found dead in Hoboken; a previous AP report claimed the younger brother was being held for questioning. That has since been amended to read that the 24-year-old Ryan Lanza, the older brother, is being questioned, but is not considered a suspect.
Around 9:30 a.m., Adam Lanza is said to have opened fire in the offices at Sandy Hook Elementarywitnesses told the Post that screams and gunshots were heard over the intercom of the school. Lanza then reportedly went into his mother's kindergarten class, killed his mother, then opened fire on the children. Police confirmed that all the shootings took place in one section of the school, in only two rooms.

I disagree. I think we are going to find out that this lunatic was jacked up on all kinds of prescription “drugz” just to make him “normal.”
Give him some Prozac and then turn him out on the street. Let’s sit back and watch the carnage.
We really do need to drag the psycho profession into this, kicking and screaming if need be.
THEY ARE CULPABLE!
However, the worst massacres of children were done by the “Religion of Peace” in Beslan, Russia (1 September 2004). Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beslan_school_hostage_crisis
The second worst was the Bath Consolidated School bombing in Bath, Michigan, as discussed.
Third worst was Virginia Tech (16 April 2007) done by Seung-Hui Cho who killed 32 and wounded 25.
Fourth was the Ma’alot, Israel, school attack. Members of the “Religion of Peace” attacked the school on 15 May 1974, killing 31 and wounding 70.
In the UK Daily Mail online their report indicates the 20 year old Lanza was mentally disabled.
Unfortunately I’m inclined to agree with you on this one. Sounds like it happened so fast it would have been hard to stop most of the deaths. I don’t know the exact timeline, but an armed teacher in another classroom may have been able to prevent a few of the deaths. This is a horrible tragedy, but no anti-gun law would have prevented it.
I saw another report that said Adam was an honor student in 9th grade. Of course, false reports have been issued by NBC and CNN. There was an interview with somebody who claimed to be a friend of the brother Ryan. He said Ryan was into arts and video games and never talked about Adam or his parents. When he was asked it did not seem odd that he never spoke about his family, the so-called friend said, “No.”
“It certainly wasnt something we worried about when I was in school in the early 80s.”
That was before Prozac.
lets be thankful that we have mostly peaceful people.....
that being said, if people are known to be nuts or evil, guns must never be around for them to get access....responsible people must lock them away, hide them away, or otherwise prevent the crazies from getting to them.....
they let him in they guess cuz they knew him from being there. Or he knew how to gain access. No reports that he worked there.
It is possible the school has a badge access system.

It is possible the school has a badge access system. And he used his mother’s badge.

Yours is a very good idea, but unfortunately impossible.
Guns are available in every large city from street suppliers, even gun shops have no way of telling the insane from the sane, background checks do not say “this guy is a nut”, also many guns are stolen by burglars, in spite of being locked away.
There are millions of guns in this country both legal and illegal, it is impossible to keep them away from a person dead set on getting one for their nefarious purposes.
Even in cities such as New York where guns are practically totally illegal it is easy to get a weapon if one wants it.
We have hundreds of gun laws on the books and still crazed people get guns. No law can be made that would make it impossible to get a gun.Even if guns were outlawed, a perso who wish’s to kill can go on the internet or his l;ibraray and learn to make a bomb.Gasoline is sold on every corner and fire is deadly. Knives, hatchets, axes, ice picks are all easily gotten and all can be deadly.
The problem is not with guns ,but with crazed maniacs, and criminals who use them or any other means to kill .
The guns did it silly! //sarc off//
People following a false prophet? Anything might happen. They might do anything.
What makes you think there is a difference between the two?
Or the students. I routinely carried a .22 pump action to elementary school. It stood in the corner of the classroom all day. My buddies and I would go hunt rabbit at the playa lake 1/2 mile from the school after class.
Graduated to a .30-.30 in Jr. High (roughly 1965), when we all got little Yamaha 80's and could travel out to the sandhills to stalk coyote and antelope.
I guess I'm a fossil.

Agreed. The citizens need to be armed and trained to respond to assaults. Period.
These type of shootings usually involve people who have emotional problems and on meds. Subway pusher in NYC was a nut loose on the streets. To prevent this is not by eliminating the gun, because a nut can do the same damage with a huge knife and fashioned sharp edge club. If violent nuts are incarcerated in hospitals or individuals who cannot take their meds in a responsible manner should be institutionalized. To be merciful to nuts is to be cruel to the normals.
no we have to outlwaw subways that the problem not the pusher....
