After a whole lot of confusion, the NY Post, NY Times and other news outlets have now identified Adam Lanza as the suspect in the tragic shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut this morning. Altogether, at least 27 people were killed, including 20 children, when the 20-year-old Lanza allegedly walked into the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and opened fire.
NBC initially reported that a Ryan Lanza killed his father in Hoboken NJ this morning, then drove to Connecticut to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where his mother Nancy is a kindergarten teacher. It would be an understatement to say that there have been several conflicting reports about this timeline though: some reported that a body was found in a family home at 36 Yogananda Street in Newtown. CNN reported that Lanza's younger brother was found dead in Hoboken; a previous AP report claimed the younger brother was being held for questioning. That has since been amended to read that the 24-year-old Ryan Lanza, the older brother, is being questioned, but is not considered a suspect.
Around 9:30 a.m., Adam Lanza is said to have opened fire in the offices at Sandy Hook Elementarywitnesses told the Post that screams and gunshots were heard over the intercom of the school. Lanza then reportedly went into his mother's kindergarten class, killed his mother, then opened fire on the children. Police confirmed that all the shootings took place in one section of the school, in only two rooms.

In the mostly lilly white suburban school district I live in, we have one SRO, who I also happen know socially. He's a good guy and no doubt a tough cop in the closing years of his career. He's a real cop on the local force assigned full-time to the school district.
Most of his time is spent at the High School, although he does go to the one Jr. High and makes stops at elementary schools for presentations and such just to meet with the kids and let them get to know him.
His real job is to let kids first of all know a cop and be friends with him, and then to council those few individual kids who are headed for serious problems and divert them to a better way.
It is not a low wage security force like they have in the city schools who don't really give a s**t. It's one guy (a very good guy BTW) for an entire district with eight school building spread over a 25 square mile area.
As good as I believe this guy is, he could not have stopped what happened today because odds are, he would have been miles away at a different school when it happened.
Neither, I fear. A person withn a death wish will not be deterred by deadly force. Although that might reduce the body count.
Ever consider that Satan might be behind the radical Islamists for whom death of infidels is victory, even if the infidels are little kids?
Islam = Satan
Unfortunately I have. I did a study on it and the most foul acts committed on children by terrorists I have read in years outside of what happened in Rwanda. The Russian’s learned the hard way what corruption and hatred will do and so will we when that level of murder and madness arrives here in the States. The Russian government did not change the laws, they only got nastier and more vindictive in their persecution of the Chechnyans.
Nice to see the SWAT and cops all decked out in their armor and high-powered weapons, BUT, as always in these scenarios, THEY ARE TOO LATE!!!!
They come after the fact and the psychos know it!!!!
I assume it is a “safe” image of one the r*ped and murdered children?
psycho killer. Quest que c’est?
We were still able to take guns to school for hunting into the early 80s. If we drove they had to stay in the car and they couldn’t go on the bus so a parent had to bring us and the weapon had to stay in the prinicipal’s office during the day.
On opening day it looked like an armory.
The system of protecting children with fire arms seems to work in Israel.
YES! FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT!!
YES! FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT!!
Read my tagline.
“It certainly wasnt something we worried about when I was in school in the early 80s.”
Or when I was in school in the early 40s and teaching school in the mid fifties. When I look back on those days it seems like another world.
.
This wasn't a sudden or spontaneous act. This was planned.
The thing is, somebody close to this punk had to have seen something was way off.
Too many friends and relatives are in denial about possible mental illness afflicting those closest to them.
I now think that it is time that killers like this not be named in the press or any other place with their bodies cremated and spread in anonymous locations. They should forever be erased from all documents and their names never again mentioned. Infamy is the legacy that many seek. They must be forgotten not given fame.
I just wish these deluded idiots that decide they want to go out taking as many people as possible with them would choose a more suitable target. Let’s say the headquarters office of one of the 3 alphabet networks......
I agree...in about 1952, I took a .22 rifle to school to trade it for a quart jar of .22 bullets that another student had. There we stood, a quart of ammunition and a gun, we could have wiped out half the neighborhood. The principal knew what we were doing and merely had us secure the stuff in our lockers....no swat teams involved.
No. She worked there as either a teachers aide or a sub.
He probably had her pass.
