US President Barack Obama wept as he addressed the nation in the aftermath of the school shootings in Connecticut.
Mr Obama paused repeatedly as he struggled to keep his composure while speaking of the children who had been killed and the milestones in their lives they would never have - birthdays, graduations, weddings.
"Our hearts are broken today," he said, at times using a finger to wipe tears at the corners of his eyes.
Mr Obama said he had reacted to news of the elementary school shooting first as a parent.
He added that he and First Lady Michelle would do what any other parent in America would do - "hug our children a little tighter".
"There is not a parent in America who does not feel the same overwhelming grief I do," he said.
Mr Obama called for "meaningful action" regardless of politics.

As another poster mentioned, this Murderer-in-Chief has overseen the destruction of tens of thousands of little ones through his abominable and unforgivable championing of the holocaust of abortion.
When he, his wife and children give up armed protection, as well as all the other elites, then they will have a legitimate right to talk on the issue.

BS. The POS that killed his mother and others had issues that were not dealt with properly. I suspect he had made many threats and everyone went on pacifying him instead of locking him up or knocking sense into him.
Those that have had to deal face to face with these kinds of killers and were able to stop them in the act rather than when they were threatening truly understand.
There are ways to stop these scum before they act out but gun control ain’t one of them.
I agree. There appeared to be set moments when he flicked or wiped at the outside of his eye without there being any tears being wiped away. He also stared straight down at the podium when he was seeming to gather himself. Then he launched from that emotional show right into vowing to take the action needed to stop future incidents, regardless of the politics. (Implied but unstated: crack down with more gun control.)
These FEMA camps that are supposed to be built around the U.S., put all mentally ill people there. No amount of medical treatments or psychiatric help is going to change them. Society doesn’t need them running around. Their minds are not right to begin with and then they see all the garbage on tv and video games which enhances their mental illness.

He also cried when he was reelected. Tears were shooting out both sides of his face. Axelrod must have had riot control police on hand with tear gas canisters at the ready when the magic moment came.
I’ve never seen a tear from BO the whole time he’s been in office. He didn’t shed a tear when the coffins came home from Benghazi. Too busy thinking about covering his and Hillary’s a#$es.
