Left Mobilizes to Politicize School Shooting

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: A terrible and awful thing has happened in Connecticut at a school in Newtown, Connecticut, I'm told. A shooting at a school, 26 people dead, including 18 children. It's just awful. It is terrible, incomprehensible. But I'm gonna tell you something. As we sit here at this very moment, you know it and I know it, there are liberals trying to find a way to blame this on conservatives and Republicans. It may sound a little hard-edged to say that, but I've lived through these things for 25-plus years.

Every such incident as this, even Hurricane Katrina, they tried to blame on Bush. We actually had people saying he didn't care. He wanted to steer it if he could have to get rid of the population there. So we shall soon see. It won't be long. Gabby Giffords shooting, you name it. Any incident like this. There was the Dark Knight Rises shooting in Aurora, Colorado. Brian Ross, ABC News, blamed it on the Tea Party. So it may sound a little hard-edged to say it, but I'm telling you, there are elements of the mainstream media who are doing everything they can, their number one objective is to see if there's anything they can blame on conservative media or Republican policies or the Second Amendment. I don't care what it is, you know that that's coming. I just want to get it out there and prepare you for it.

RUSH: Even as I was explaining and reacting to this horrible shooting in Newtown, Connecticut... Maybe, what, 14, 16, 18 children are dead. Some are only four or five years old. Even as I was saying/predicting that the left/the media were trying to figure out how they could blame this on conservatives -- or politicize it, turn it into an event to advance their agenda...

As I was saying that, a hostette at MSNBC, Alex Wagner, said, "Hopefully, this shooting will result in political capital to reform gun laws. It is hopefully -- and we say this every single time we cover one of these things. There's gotta be some kind of measurable change, some kind of reaction. One would hope there would be some political capital to reform the way in which we handle gun and gun violence in this country."

So they're already calculating. That's what so peeves me about these people. You've got a horrible event here, and they're already looking to politicize it. It's not what it is. It's an opportunity! These people look at stuff like this as an opportunity (it's sickening) to advance their agenda or blame conservatives. The shooter's dead. CBS says a second person is in custody. Jay Carney, the White House spokesman, has already been asked if the shooting will help advance gun control.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: By the way, to all you leftists who, in a sickening fashion, are trying to conceive ways to politicize this just awful incident in Newtown, Connecticut, trying to find a way to get rid of guns, trying to find a way to politicize this and advance your agenda, let me just point out we had guns 30, 40, 50, a hundred years ago, and we didn't have mass murders every other month.

So what's changed? It is not the number of guns that's changed. If you people on the left are so eager to control things, we actually need some values control. We actually need some social guardrails. I don't even know if that would eliminate stuff like this. We don't know why yet, purpose, reason. The psychological community is eagerly trying to understand this, too.

That's another aspect of this. "We must dig deep, Mr. Limbaugh into the psyche of the shooter to find out what it is that makes them do these things. We must learn."

Why?

"Well, so that we can attempt to prevent such behavior, recognize it in certain people and prevent it from happening in the future."

What would you do if you recognized it? Before they picked up the gun and started firing away, what would you do?

"Well, of course, that would depend on the nearest jail, Mr. Limbaugh."

Here's Piers Morgan, British import, CNN. He just tweeted: "Nothing happened after Aurora. Now it must." We don't even know what happened yet. We know the end result of what happened, but we don't know anything about this yet, and the left is already mobilized. As they always will and always do, they try to politicize the event for their advantage, mobilize down their anti-gun highway.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Well, now CNN says that the number of people killed at the Newtown, Connecticut, school is closer to 30, and a federal law enforcement official says that most of the dead are children. And even as we speak, the Drive-By Media and the Democrats are attempting to politicize the issue to advance their own agenda. In this case, probably an assault on the Second Amendment again. I guarantee you that they are overturning everything they can in their quest to be able to blame this on Republicans. This, to them, is an opportunity. At least to the Democrat media people that are tweeting and Facebooking on this, they are excited about it. Oh, yes, it's a golden opportunity. It's sick.

Our mental health system is broken. That is the root cause of every major incident.

We know that within the next 12 months thousands of Americans will be killed because a lack of vehicle control in this country. How many lives could have been saved over the last 50 years if automobiles were illegal and removed from our society? These victims, many of them children and women, were robbed of the joys of life in our free country. Yet the politicians, including Pres. Obama, refused to take action in fear of the repercussions of the American automobile Association. The AAA, closely associated with automobile manufacturers continues to lobby our lawmakers, who allow the slaughter of innocent people to continue. /sarc>

My great niece was in the school at the time. She didn't see anything but she did hear the shots. A family member's friend's child was killed

My left leaning relatives are blaming guns and the gun culture. One of the most vocal is a niece who works for Emily's list, the pro abortion fund raising group that raises money for pro abort politicians.

I pointed out the devaluation of human life in modern society thanks in large part to the the belief in killing unborn babies simply because they're inconvenient but of course that kind of thinking just makes me a right wing nut with the brains of a worm or something.

Pointing out that making today's tragedy more illegal with more gun control laws wouldn't have stopped it didn't help either.

If this admistration would GIVE weapons to Mexican drug cartels that they KNEW would be used to murder hundreds, if not thousands of Mexican citizens, and some of our own, what makes anyone think that they wouldn’t try to push a few disturbed individuals over the edge? especially if said individuals already were taking heavy doses of anti depressants, or some other drug, and/or had already had behavior problems? You could do this “under the radar”, right? And then you could go on TV and wipe fake tears away.
I have never believed in most conspiracy theories, but this is starting to get my attention, to say the least.....

In a society in which social controls have been under deconstruction for about 40 years we are constantly surprised and horrified when disturbed and disorganized people display a complete lack of internal controls. In short libs have pushed ‘let it all hang out’ as the mantra of the nation for decades. If that is the national non-standard than why be surprised when someone displays their own version of ,beyond good and evil,. We can't have it both ways. Expect conduct that relies heavily on internalized controls and a sense of responsibility and have virtually no standards of the tabooed and the forbidden. I say this and I am far more of a skeptic and secularist than is the norm on this site.

The gun culture of NRA supporters, I presume.

NOT the gun culture of Hollywood movies, video games and rap "music".

Am I right?

Lefties are quite fond of dreaming up fictional disorders that allow for expansion of the welfare state, but when it comes to proper mental illness they believe it’s ‘compassionate’ to close the hospitals and ensure that sickos roam free.

It never fails to amaze me that the very people who are calling for more gun control and supposedly so concerned about children’s safety actively support a practice that has resulted in the slaughter of tens of millions of children in this country alone. Filthy hypocrites.

the left has been waiting for a massive shooting like this for some time...yes I said it. they need to get rid of guns to control the masses. It just makes me sick to my stomach the events of today. The family’s will never forget. The ones who witnessed it won’t either.

Now the left will show the little caskets maybe even show little body bags, leak it to MSM to further their cause. Those in politics will run to the family’s to go to the funerals. They will exploit to no end.

Yet we all here at FR know the cause. It isn’t lack of gun control. It is the left and the loss of God and morals giving school children condoms....etc. rant off

The Left? They want a gun ban? They had one. School was a gun free zone.

Time to try something that actually works...

Arm everyone who feels competent enough to carry.

This isn’t a clarion call for gun control, it’s a clarion call for home schooling. Don’t let the left seize the day. They are already organizing and coordinating their efforts to politicize the issue. Conservatives, as usual, will play defense. they will allow the left to frame the issue, and define the paradigm. Why are they always on offense? Why are we always on defense? Because we’re a bunch of pussies, that’s why. Because we don’t think long-term, that’s why. Because they’re in it to win, that’s why.
