News Corp. chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch expressed support for an automatic weapons ban tonight following today's shooting in Newtown, Conn.
"Terrible news today. When will politicians find courage to ban automatic weapons?," Murdoch wrote on Twitter.
Murdoch made a similar call following the theater shooting in Aurora, Colo., in July: "We have to do something about gun controls. Police license okay for hunting rifle or pistol for anyone without crim or pscho record. No more," he tweeted.
News Corp. owns Fox News, where contributors have been objecting to calls for gun control throughout the day.

Another billionaire heard from from his gated community and personal bodyguards at the ready.
How would more gun laws have kept the mother of the murderer from getting her legally acquired weapons? This didn’t happen in Texas, but in CT, one of the strictest gun law states.
The FOX coverage of this is shameful. They always pick out some sorrowful background music and “name” the event which they use each time they talk about it.
They have yet to understand that this constant coverage repeating the misery over and over is most likely why we get this copycat stuff.
My husband mentioned that it is most sickening to hear them go on about Obama’s fake tears when they know that he had no problem providing weapons to drug cartels and jihadi’s in the middle east. Obama shed no tears for dead Americans in Benghazi either.
Automatic weapons have been unConstitutionally banned for a long time.
I heard that the mother had purchased 5 guns and legally registered them. My gut feeling is that mom really didn’t buy them for herself, but was enabling her sick son. Hope I’m wrong, otherwise she’s just as guilty putting weapons into the hands of a mentally deranged person..someone she’d know.
