Cuomo: We Must ‘Crack Down on the Guns’ in Wake of Connecticut Shooting
politicker.com ^ | December 14, 2012 | Colin Campbell

In one of the worst school shootings in American history, over two dozen were left dead at a Newtown, Connecticut elementary school earlier today. And, although many facts have yet to emerge, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called for the public to learn from “yet another senseless and horrific act of violence involving guns,” and for the government to act in response.

“We as a society must unify and once and for all crack down on the guns that have cost the lives of far too many innocent Americans,” Mr. Cuomo said in a statement. “Let this terrible tragedy finally be the wake-up call for aggressive action and I pledge my full support in that effort.”

Mr. Cuomo, of course, is not the only prominent New Yorker to call for new gun control measures, and elected officials’ press releases have been pouring in, both expressing their sympathy and pushing for new policies to slow the flow of illegal guns. Manhattan Congressman Jerry Nadler announced he was “challenging President Obama, the Congress, and the American public to act on our outrage and, finally, do something about this,” for example. Similarly, Speaker Shelly Silver tacked more broadly, declaring, “If ever there is a time to finally have a serious discussion about our country’s culture of violence that time is now.”

View Mr. Cuomo’s full reaction below:

“I was shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School this morning in Newtown, Connecticut. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the innocent victims – many of whom were young children – whose lives were claimed by this senseless and horrific act of violence. During times of such unthinkable tragedy, all New Yorkers stand together with the people of our neighboring state to grieve the loss of life and help bear the pain and anguish that will be felt by so many in the weeks, months, and years to come.

“While we don’t have all the facts and our focus must be on the victims, this is yet another senseless and horrific act of violence involving guns. We as a society must unify and once and for all crack down on the guns that have cost the lives of far too many innocent Americans. Let this terrible tragedy finally be the wake-up call for aggressive action and I pledge my full support in that effort.”

Yet not one word about the 52 million babies who have had a hole drilled in their skull, their brain sucked out and their bodies burned.

Miserable hypocrites.

THIS JUST IN FROM FOREIGN PRESS: While the US media cry about gun control, the foreign media point out that an innocent man Ryan Lanza, his face all over the net and on TV, was accused by the US media (and its faithful followers, many of them here) of being a mass murderer!

When parents drop off their kids at government school, they have a right to expect their children will be indoctrinated in Marxism, and return home safe at the end of the day.

Drugs are illegal in this country and yet any 14 year old who wants them can get them.

What makes anyone think that banning guns would make them difficult to get?

It’s amazing how the acts of single person can threaten the rights of millions.

New York has cracked down on guns about as much as you can imagine, already.

I left there for good in 1980. Recently, I have had some personal business requiring me to return from time to time. I am licensed to carry in 39 states, and the nature of my business makes CCW a very good idea.

Not only is this impossible - NY does not issue nonresident permits and does not honor any other state's permits - The part of NY I travel in also bans travel with most of my rifles and shotguns if they are loaded or capable of being loaded.

What more does Cuomo want?

Hey Cuomo - as soon as your government thugs give up theirs and the thieves and robbers give up theirs and the islamofascists and commies give up theirs, then we can talk. Until that time, I’m keeping mine to protect myself from YOU!

“I bet you will find alot of these shooters are hardcore gamers”

And you’d lose the bet.
The “blame video games” meme is tried after each such event, and is discredited each time.

I fear that with the current crop of elected officials, they would rather dump the Second Amendment that to look like they don’t care. They already refused to even question the concept of natural born. I have little confidence that they will pay attention to any part of the constitution that might get in their way now.

Won’t be long before we have phasers.

The problem is the liberal democratic progressives that have their cranial containers stuck up an alimentary crevice.

Buy more guns, buy wisely, buy what you would need to stop a crazed gunman who may have several guns, lots of ammo and arguably some body armor.

I didn’t know that about Nadler.Doesn’t surprise me though.I’ve been around long enough that I can usually look at a person and tell what kind of a person they are.The first time I saw Nadler I said to myself, now there’s a real piece of shit.
