Definite possibility, but killing anyone after her makes no sense. She wouldn't be around to suffer for what he did. Frankly, if she were alive, knowing he murdered 20 children to get even with her, that would be the most vicious form of retribution I can imagine for a mother. But she isn't. So... it's still just very weird.
I agree, makes no sense, unless it was jealousy.
He was most likely an out of control lazy BRAT.
“You love those children more than ME!”
To #20. Lanza’s killing his mother and then the teachers/administrators and school children makes a lot of sense to a damaged mind.
His mother was the prime target, but then he “projected” his hatred for her onto anyone who worked with her or were in her classes (or any classes at the school). Thus he kept “killing” his mother eventhough they were totally innocent and not socially connected to her.
Only after he did his killing did Lanza realize that he was the last living link to his mother so he had to kill himself in order to sever that emotional/mental link.
The psychological term is “projection” meaning projecting one’s own fears, hates, likes onto others who may have been close, rejected them, were in the proximity of those people, or who had a direct connection to them.
Paranoid schizophrenics do this all the time, even if the people, events, and perceived threats, insults, turn-downs never happened in reality.
I blame the Mom in some of this; she had guns at home, taught him how to shoot, etc. Knowing he had mental disorder, was a Goth, etc. She was selfish. She should have not had guns in the house. She knew her son was unstable. Yes, she had a right to own and use guns, but if I knew my kid had some issues, I WOULD not have any guns in the housen or at least none that he would know about.
I surmise, looking at this Kid that he was probably bullied a lot, mad fun of, etc. I surmise that he was spoiled.
